And I wanted to know if stripping is a problem? Because some people look at me funny when they ask me where I work...I'm a rather attractive black female just trying to make it through college..I don't plan to make a carreer out of this but stripping pay my bills but I hate getting looked at the wrong way and people just judge me from this

The models I will use will be 1:160 (i.e. one foot would be modeled at 0.075 inches). The Hogwarts Express train I will be using will be in 1:148 scale (i.e. it takes .0812 inches to model 1 foot of structure).

Noble says their Hogwarts model "Measures approximately 13 inches in height," but it looks like most of that is comprised of cliffs, & their Hogwarts is about 7 inches. That would make the Astronomy peak come close to looking 93 feet high next to other American N (1:160) scale structures-- and about 86 feet tall compared to the British N-gauge (1:148) train.

A) Does anyone own the Noble Collection Hogwarts, and if so, how tall is just the Hogwarts portion of it? How accurate is this sculpt based on what we see in the movie and what is in the books? This sculpture has no way of internal lighting, correct?

B) Does J.K. Rowling ever list the height of Hogwarts in any of the books? How tall is the Astronomy Tower? Does she mention the height of any particular landmarks?

Who likes this song?
Having a blast?

cruisn' down the street.
rockn' to the beat.
blasting the radio.
without a care oohh
chorus:havin a blast with the rest of the cast.
sleepovers, partying till we drop...and fall up
schools a snore.
weekends are what we live for.

call us if your ever a bore.
we'll play our music
and before you know it
you wont be snore anymore.
we'll make you jump from your seat.
on to the dance floor.
dance dance dance ohohoh
shake shake shake
untill you ake ake ake
you no im (chorus)

Let me live as I live
And let me die as I wish to die.
Let me be shot with your gun
Then be kept in a cage
and made to run.

Yes I’ll run
May, then, I not win the race;
May, then, I fall hundred times while a step
But let me rise up
On my own legs
On my souls call
Then on fire of your gun.

I don’t fear the gun
Neither I fear to face the race;
But I can’t carry the chariot
Where you hold a stick
And ask me to take your turns.

Yes, I’ll carry the chariot,
Neither I fear to face the turns.
Turns
Let them be sharp
And then
Let me clash with them
With my own chariot

Let me live as I live as live
And then I will die
As destiny asks me to die.

If you think trouble is a cat in a tree
And the worst pain of all is the sting of a bee
If you think a problem is a broken nail
If an ordeal is a letter lost in the mail
If tradgedy is you missed the bus
If an unruly rooms causes out-of-hand fuss
If a rip-off is buying overpriced shoes
Then this is going to be way more than news.

Getting sick can be more than a cough
A switch can mean more than to turn on or off
Starving may not be quite what you think
A cold glass of water may not be a drink
Sometimes our messes get a bit out of hand
And grow into issues beyond our command
What a child calls a crush may rise above
And change from, "I like you" to a thing called, "love"
Not everything is what it may seem
Be prepared for surprises when you wake from your dream

P.S.
i'm 11 and this poem was inspired by my mom's close friend who has non-hopkins lymphoma

well, i'm writing a story that takes place in 1906. i know they had old guns like in 1700s, too, but i don't want to use them.
i just don't want to seem completely off by using swords if no one ever used them anymore.

so basically, would it be ridiculous to have swordfights in the early 1900s?
i just want to keep SOME sense of reality here...

This is a question I've bounced around in my head once in a blue moon. In comics I've seen writers put their take on the question. Now I'm asking this of the history buffs of Y!A. Maybe like me you've thought of it or you've done your own research and found some conclusions. After all, with the factors of the weather and intelligence reports of the day a lot could have gone wrong. Or still go right. What are your thoughts?

I've noticed that some people tell us a lot about whom they are, where they live, what they do, their likes and dislikes, etc. in their profiles, yet others don't even bother to say if they are male or female, where they reside, how old they are, etc. I don'y expect you to open yourself to all kinds of perverts on the prowl (you can block IM and e-mail messages here in any case), but it would sure be great to see the opinions of folks who are not simply anonymous avatars (or whatever they call those rediculous pictures above your name in your profile section!), but REAL flesh and blood people whom one can relate to. Just wondering . . . .

So, Fr. Al gave a challenge today to write a poem about our cat. For those of you that haven't read his work, it's like Einstein posting in the physics section and saying write me a little ditty about relativity. I will leave a link to the challenge and encourage you to read his excellent (truly excellent) cat poems.

Here's my attempt for my 9 year old tortoise shell:

Fiona

Stalker, delicate roof shadow,
hidden tuft of fur, orange and black.
Slinking so that none may follow,
pouncing quickly, a swift attack.

Gold eyes shine like little jewels
between slits in the backyard fence.
Swatting birds down, such utter fools
believing your benign pretense.

Ledge leaper, warm sunshine sleeper,
crying when meals are always late.
Lizard eater, tall-grass creeper,
curled on a pillow so sedate.

I recently auditioned for a local theatre's production of CATS ... and I felt I did pretty well. I sang well (no mess-ups) and the dance audition (though it was freaking hard!) went fine as well.

However, I checked the callback listing online, and lo and behold, I'm not called back! Very upsetting ....

There is this note, however, listed at the top of the page:

"If you are not on this list, it does not mean that you are not cast in the show, and does not necessarily mean that you will not be cast in one of these roles. There are many decisions left to make about the exact male/female balance and dancing/singing balance that we want, and that process includes many people not listed here."

So what do yall think? Is this just an appeasement to people not called back so they don't get their feelings hurt? Or is it a legitimate statement? Do you think someone could still get a lead without a callback? Let me know what you think! :)

The Native Americans were unfairly treated lied to numerous times when it came to treaties and stripped of a lot of the Americas, a place where they clearly settled at first. The Africans were brought to America and striped of their culture. Very few people know that Africans were among the first people to develop civilizations and nation states. They had a good salt and gold trade so their economy was good. Once they arrived to America they were striped of their culture and taught that black is inferior. Kids were separated from their Parents as they were treated like cattle and passed from one plantation to the next as slave owners brought and traded slaves. Today blacks suffer from self hatred. Black Americans are not taught their history and have no true knowledge of their self.
