Take advice from a veteran screenwriter that's about ready to release two scripts late this year. Web sites are great and there's many to select from, but, what you really need is a text book that you can turn to whenever you need to during the final stages of cutting and polishing that script. The screenwriters bible is the best on the market and that book will only cost you twenty five dollars unless you borrow it from the library. Try to get his latest version, you'll be amazed from what you'll learn with that book because it's more than just the nuts and bolts about screenwriting. Take that route, trust me!

Sample Spec Script

A SPEC script is like any script, it should be in the correct format for the industry. The only suggestion I know of is to keep it simple when it comes to shots and transitions so as not to distract from your story. It's more artistically descriptive rather than technically if that makes sense. Look at www.imsdb.com or www.script-o-rama.com and you can see the format for tons of scrips online and copy that.

You can also look at websites like www.triggerstreet.com which is a site for writers.

Good luck!
