I've noticed that some people tell us a lot about whom they are, where they live, what they do, their likes and dislikes, etc. in their profiles, yet others don't even bother to say if they are male or female, where they reside, how old they are, etc. I don'y expect you to open yourself to all kinds of perverts on the prowl (you can block IM and e-mail messages here in any case), but it would sure be great to see the opinions of folks who are not simply anonymous avatars (or whatever they call those rediculous pictures above your name in your profile section!), but REAL flesh and blood people whom one can relate to. Just wondering . . . .

The reason I don't put a lot of that information is pretty simple:
- I am not my gender.
- I am not my age.
- I am not my location.
- I am not my race.
- I am not my job.
People have been trying to put me in boxes all my life, and I find that they never really fit quite right. Personally, I greatly enjoy the freedom from all this prejudice that I can only generally enjoy in a forum such as this.
I can empathize about your difficulty in humanizing us without such typical tags. I can't say I'm sorry or that I'm going to change, but I do apologize for making your satisfaction more difficult while obtaining my own. I hope that is good enough. ( :

Because I don't come to these boards to make friends. Only my friends know personal things about me, and I leave it at that.
I don't mind giving advice to people that ask question. I also enjoy learning from other people's questions.
There is nothing I really want anyone to know about me other then the information I may add from experience to answer a question.

I'm very careful about placing that stuff on a public site like this. You never know who wants access to your information. Maybe I'm a little paranoid, but I recently read 1984, and I don't know if I'll ever look at government the same again.

I hate to say it but the people who enter all of their information; full name, address, phone number, kids names... They are asking for trouble. THey are asking for some one to take their idendty, their security, their children... There are so many weirdos in the world these days it just is not safe.

I guess because I don't pay much attention to what people write on their profiles and assume other people do the same.

These places aren't safe for real flesh and blood interactions. Mysteries mean safety here. Don't encourage kumbayas here.

Prejudice may occur if they know who you are, Like point to this & say it is not good enough & point to you there & say that is not good enough lets not bother to talk. Or point at your wheel chair & not bother because they cant keep up .
