A poem;
At first sight,
gathering up the breath of all life knowing to be.

Attendant, dependant, small and revolving around another.

Irregularly brilliant and never seen as the phenomenon
of extraordinary splendor as the assemblage... A.M.H.

So many things in the book just didn't ring true to me - like Mountain Goat getting beat up day after day, once beaten until the kids ran out of steam, but her parents didn't even notice? Or her dad setting fire to the Christmas Tree...

Opinions? Facts?
Just curious - the book is great if it's a true story, but if it's fiction, it's nothing.

I am a writter and have written alot of short stories, and long stories, but never have the right ending, so they are never finished, but I need a new plot, or story line for a new story, anyone have any ideas? 1: Nothing stupid.

I usually write romance stories, action and adventure. If characters are given, I would appreicate it if you have details and attitude, character traits about them, or past life. =) Thanks!

Seems when I honestly converse, I frustrate
The motivation behind my birth must’ve been lust straight
From the onset, pain was never a foreign concept
Born screaming: Doc ain’t even hit me with his palm yet
Ironically, my cardinal trait is perpetual calmness
And neurotic girls like me because they figure I’m harmless
But what they don’t see beneath their perception of their man to be
Is a man whose introspection questions his sanity
We are all exposed to humanity and as I’m examining
Mankind's future, most roads lead to calamity
But we’re too blinded by emotions to understand and see
Ruled by our fear, which is demanding we
Use denial to cope, be soothed by the tear
And put a tie on the throat of those bringing truth to our ears

I planned on reading this at an open mic night and just wanted a little feedback in advance. Thanks.

Can you tell ethnic percentages by your grandparents last name? My grandparents last names are:

Finley-celtic, scotish
May-English?
Long-English?
Bentz-German

Would this make me 50% english, 25% german, and 25% celtic/scottish?

Also i heard that your ethnicity is mainly determined by your fathers DNA. So if my dad has the celtic last name of Finley does that make me predominantly Celtic?

I've read a book of Roald Dahl's poems and thought they were pretty good. But then I saw these poems in Yahoo! Answers that sound so deep and emotional that makes you think. I also read the advice people gave. So what IS a poem? Is it just a few stanzas with lines that rhyme? Or is it something else?

We continue to repeat the evils of the past...nothing seems to have changed except excuses and justifications. Some leaders are as evil as all the others in the past...yet no one has the gall to cry out 'look the emperor is without clothes'....

This is a what-if scenario. Say a man was living in Germany during the Nazi control. He was born in Germany but had a celtic last name of Fionnlach. Would he of been considered an "aryan" because the Celts did originate along the danube and rhine river before they moved to britain. Or would he be prosecuted and scoffed on and put in a concentration camp with the "impure" races? Surley he wouldn't of been treated that bad?

I'm a fan of Shari Lewis and was pretty shocked to find that no one has taken the time to make a biography of her life. Your thoughts and answers would be much appreciated.
