I'm not a boy, but I have brothers, husband and two sons. Sleeping without a shirt or even clothes won't hurt you in the least. On the contrary, sleeping in clothing that gets sweaty can cause jock itch. What ever is most comfortable is good. I know there are some people who would die if it were suggested that sleeping nude were OK, but really they are prudes. Some people think it leads to more sexual excitement, but males get that wearing clothes as well.

Sorry, I thought(at first) you asked what happens when boys sleep WITH their shirts or clothes on. Had you, I would have answered-- we get real sweaty tossing and turning; only to wake in the morning smelly and sticky.

It is not a question of prudishness but one of custom and habit. The majority would favor wearing a shirt and sleep. I would rather have a comfortable clothe on, while on bed.

Shirt off? Usually nothing. Clothes off, on the other hand, greatly increase the chance of getting hard.

What??? Dude, the only thing that I can think of is that when you start to sleep in the buff, you get used to it real fast and continue to enjoy sleeping in the buff. But you won't go blind or get hairy palms or anything like that.

Shirt or no shirt it doesn't make any difference. Its just a question of preference. I dont really affect anything (their sexuality, morality etc.).
