I've been keeping a journal from teaching in rough neighborhoods in Chicago the past five years. It's a look at why teachers struggle so much, but at the same time, you watch me and my students grow each year.

Some entries include: students stealing my credit card and going on a shopping spree, me getting sexually harassed by another male teacher, school shootings, kids bringing guns/drugs to school, being threatened by crazy parents...etc.

Chicago Public School are considered the worst in the USA. This could almost be a snapshot of one teacher's experience.

Please tell me what you think. There are only a handful of similiar books out there.

I'm just looking for a list of good memoirs or memoir recommendations. Just anything like A Million Little Pieces by James Frey or Running With Scissors by Augusten Burroughs.

I am thinking about writing a book about a girl who falls in love with an abusive man, then gets dumped and starts cutting herself. Upbeat, I know, but I can't seem to get the idea out of my head. But I was wondering if anyone would actually read it. It would be a young adult book. Thanks!

I mean, did we come of the dust? Did we evolve from monkeys? From other species? Are we even native to this Earth? How is that we are sure we are really menat to be here? I mean, we could have adapted our phisiology to live in this planet... You know, like Lemurs have over developed thumbs so they can live where they live.... We could have adapted in order to live in this earth.

I don't know if this is an outline for good people or whatever, but, I follow this, made it up, and felt a need to write it out...

Me Me Me Me Me. What am I going to do? Why does this have to happen to ME? Everyone seems to think this way. It's not that people aren't important... they are. On the grand scheme of things, though, they're only a grain of a grain of a grain of sand. Therefore, to say you are the most important being in the universe and to put others' needs before you isn't per se, wrong, as lacking in manners. If the entire universe was a pixelized 3D hologram, you'd never be able to point out the pixel that is "you". Nor would you be able to do it with anybody else, or even the planet Earth. We are, truly, that miniscule.

That does not mean we do not affect the universe, though. The Butterfly Effect proves this quite amply, "a butterfly's wings might create tiny changes in the atmosphere that ultimately cause a tornado to appear (or, for that matter, prevent a tor-

History was always my least favorite and worst subject while I was in school. Now that I am out of school I have this urge to learn and read up on everything I can get my hands on about history.

Creepy as it sounds the events that I would most like to read about are the ones that deal with true cruelty, sadness, and darkness. I find it to be very intriguing to learn about the ways humans can treat each other.

Also, I enjoy Women's Rights and strong Women in History.

In terms of reading material I prefer reading more of a book that tells a story instead of a school-book style text that basically just lists facts.

At the top of my list is to learn about the Spanish Inquistion first and then about Hitler's life (I'm currently reading Mein Kampf).

So my question is:

What events in our World's History do you think fit those two categories and what is some literature you would suggest?
