I am thinking about writing a book about a girl who falls in love with an abusive man, then gets dumped and starts cutting herself. Upbeat, I know, but I can't seem to get the idea out of my head. But I was wondering if anyone would actually read it. It would be a young adult book. Thanks!

It wouldn't glorify self mutalation, and at the end she would go to a treatment center, so I am not encouraging cutting.

I don't know how you would handle it, but it would have to be in a way you didn't glorify self mutilation. It is a problem with some young people today. It would be great if you could introduce it with a follow-up on how to handle the problem within the story. With it being on your mind, I think writing about it would help you.

People find violence and horror very interesting so yes. It would probably be a best seller :) (provided it's written well)

I'm more of a sci-fi/fantasy person myself...it you throw in a wizard, goblins, horses and magical creatures then yeah....i would read it.
