How do you think emotions like hate, anger, and jelousy developed among humans but not other animals. All these emotions do is bring about destruction. There is no practical use for them but we society still deems them ok. why don't we rid ourselves of these.

I fear when reading a fiction that my reality orientation will get affected. For example, I like my facts to be straight! I would think that if I were to read fiction, one after the other, I would need to take a break and research the "facts" presented in the narrative. That would take up alot of time, especially if time if pressed.

I thought then, I would probably do not too bad with Michael Crighton's Next, since it has to do with science, but I am not all too updated on the reseach in regards to genetic advances, so I feel I can't read it unless I research first.

Is this sort of fiction avoidance justified?

How many times must one sing the song (with emotion or imageries) in order to fully understand the song? What does it mean to understand a song? Do you ever get sick of practicing the same song over and over and how do you.... make it seem "fresh and new" with new perspective each time you perform it? Thanks so much.

The Purpose of Reading Fiction?
What are your reasons for reading fiction? I am a busy adult who have very little time with reading "unnecessary" material, although I can imagine it would be nicer to read a fictional book than go to the movies. You just love to read stories? I never can understand people who read almost entirely fiction. Doesn't the reality orientation get messed up/affected?

I love to read nonfiction because it gives facts and I can utiltize it. I am always wary of fiction that it will mislead, if one doesn't research all that there is to a fictional book say, on genetic advances.

Please share how you feel fiction does/does not disorient you in terms of reality and why you read them. Thanks

I need a copy of the poem

"Beale Street Love" by Langston Hughes

or

"Ballads of Lenin" by Langston Hughes

Please provide a link if possible.

"Beale Street Love" is the preferred poem, but I'll gladly take whichever of the two can be found.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
