We all need to be govern by a set of laws, yet a supernaturally preordained ethical system is often a morality without meaning, and moral relativism do not resolve moral judgements in disagreement?

Is it always a tedious case by case process, or do a universal system exist but is undiscovered by all?Hope that made sense.

Thanks.

I'm 26 and have been playing piano professionally for about 10 years. I also play guitar, electric bass, and a little bit of banjo. I've played music in pretty much every style and was thinking of adding another instrument to my arsenal, primarily for orchestral pit work or just for fun. I've narrowed it down to the trombone, cello, and the string bass. I'm not terribly interested in any of the woodwinds or the viola. Trumpet and violin are in the 'maybe' pile. Should I stick to what I know (strings) or try for something different (brass)?

Having trouble finding good authors to read. I like mysteries, but they need to have humor, no Stephen King....I'm also interested in the classics. All time favorite book is To Kill a Mockingbird, also loved Of Mice and Men. I tried to read Great Expectations, but couldn't finish it...

What careers are available to a philosophy major? Whats the market value of one?

So far, my only plans is to get all my necessary degrees and move on to graduate school and have a career as a professor/researcher. I would like to know of more options so that I can fall back on if that doesn't work for me.

I am a very decent singer. I have been in musicals and performed numerous pieces in concerts, though mostly in choir. I have a fantastic ear for music and sound. But, I am in no way a superb vocalist.

Is it possible to be taught and trained to have a better, more tonal quality to your voice? Or is it really just nature's luck of the drawl as far as talent. I always wondered if paying for a vocal coach was ever really worth it.

I didn't add a question to the last piece on celebrating parents (and my own). I want to ask now, anything specific that you feel they've suffered but in the end was a happy ending? Or if you just wanna share your love of parents, it is nice that we are approaching family/holiday time, anyways. I just wanna hear it. It will make may day. Thanks..

If your mind could leave your body,
whether as a permanent alternative to physical death or just for temporary amusement, and enter into a world that is indistinguishable from reality.
Would you go? What sort of world would you want to go into?, what would you look like?

I just have to say there is none like a parent's love. I love my mom. There is no love greater than a parent's. The capacity is unimaginable and I just wanna say thanks to all parents who really try!

I feel like crying when I think how my friend who didn't have good parents suffered much. I appreciate everything my parents have done my father and how hard he worked... I think there is no greater love (human).

This belongs in philosophy because there is much traffic here.

Thanks for letting me share.

I wrote about my friend she just went through some sad and angry time.
You lied to me
You went and told all of your friends
Did you think?
I would never ever would find out
Well I did and now you crossed the line
I don’t know where to start but I’m losing my mind
Day to day and all the time
You said we were cool
But you went and started to be a fool
You cheated and tricked
Well now I’ve found the missing link
Here we are
All alone together now
I wanna say something before you blurt out
How could you
You went and made the biggest mistake of your life
You’ll regret when you are sleeping at night
Tossing and turning trying feel alright
But you want no you never will
It will haunt you in your dreams and will jump out at you when your walkin at night
You know we had a lot in common
We could of went on in a better direction
But now you changed the idea
How do you like it
To feel miserable all your life
You should of just stopped and think for a minute
But that was the past and the future is now
Nothing can save you
All you can do is remember what you have done
