The Spiritual Living or Material Living, Who is able to cope with all the problems of life ? Spiritualist or Materialist ? When we take a look at the environment around us, whom do you think, coping with problems of life better in the longer run of one life time ? Who dies more peacefully ? the believer in God or Non - believer ? When the only sure fact is that the Ultimate Destruction with Death, why so clinging to the ephimerals by the materialist ? Why so much hesitation to let Go ? Are selfish materialists building up things on the Basic board of Materialism are not going to die ? or are they going to be permanent materially ? What does History point to ? May be spiritually people can be permanent.. Dialectical Materialism, is it a very short run, short term vision of Frogs in the Well, who actually never practice what they preach ? Is Selflessness a Material aspect or Spiritual aspect,Why should someone help another if that's not bringing in Him material rewards?So which is basic?

I am looking into buying some Jean Paul Sartre and Heidegger, especially "Being and Nothingness" and "Being and Time."

What are the best translations? There are two of each.

On B&N, there is the one with JPS on a chair and the other with a pic.

On B&T, there's the black cover and also the one with the leaf.

I want to start getting into philosophy and I was wondering should I start off studying philosophy as a whole or should I start off studying it subject by subject? Like starting with epistemology first and then moving to ethics, metaphsyics, politics, etc. I would really like your opinions.

I like a magnitude of books...at the moment I am reading Oedipus Rex but just finished a biography of Jim Morrison.

The only kinds of books I don't really like are romance and science fiction novels.

True story- Author's first name may be Jack? Takes place in mountain area maybe. Girl was buried not far from house where she was taken. When body found still had red shirt and braces intact. Guy was local bodybuilder always in trouble with mean streak. He is married and wife denies he could have done it. Mother fights for justice and proof. Father can't handle and kills himself. Brother stays with mom. Mom has to move place to place due to father's lack of employment. Book has pictures from the trial in it and pictures of the mom and dad and little girl before she was murdered. She was walking along road to home after school. I can't remember the title of the book and really need to know.
