What do you know about Dutch Genre Painting?

This was the art form in the mid 17th century....
And DO NOT POST WIKIPEDIA OR A WEBSITE!!!! just curious as to what other people know about this art form.

I really love art.
And I'm Dutch. So, I'm kinda embarrassed that i don't know.
I didn't even know that there was such a thing as a "Dutch genre".

David Hockney's book Secret Knowledge explains in depth how the dutch painter Vermeer used optics . As a painter myself this was a great help in understanding their perfect perspective and I don't feel so guilty using photos to help me .I love the interiors particularly of Peter de Hooch .
