science of philosphy is a misnomer. It refers to the study of philosphy, its history and the major philosphy theories and writers.
philosophy of science has to do with the scientific method, and the accepted ways that scientists learn about the world. gather evidence, make hypothesis, test hypothesis, evaluate results, and promote hypothesis to theory or discard theory. (that sort of process)
each science also has its own philosophical underpinnings. Medical researchers must decide if animal testing is appropriate, and if human trials of a medicine or therapy should include a placebo group.
These are just examples as I understand the question.

Philosophy, in it's traditional sense, encompasses all the scientific arts. It's the study of knowledge, and explains why so many scientific minds of the past were also considered great thinkers in regards to morality and ethics, the subjects we relegate the term philosophy to mean these days. So the science of philosophy can be considered to mean any method or tool used to study or interpret philosophy. These tools may vary wildly, as what an epicurean used millenia ago to form his philosophy will be radically different than what Descartes used to form his philosophy...
On the other hand, the Philosophy of Science will generally refer to what is also known as the scientific method. You know, the process of observation, deduction, and empiricism and rational discourse used to form or disprove scientific theories.

Science of philosophy means just that, philosophy. Now the philosophy of science means what are the philosophical presuppositions or in other words the intellectual basis on which science in general is based.
