Well, considering the fact that the first religions were polytheistic and were really just primitive forms of philosophy trying to explain natural phenomenas, there is no "real" God. Yeah, He exists in nice little books, written by humans. Anyone who argues that He exists based on the Bible are merely deceiving themselves, hoping to justify their existence. Then there are those who ask why there is life on THIS planet and why WE are special enough to prosper here. Well, what can you compare this to? Do we know of other life in the universe? It is purely coincidental that there is life on Earth (just as the six-digit number 123456 would seem more common than 353141) but because WE are the ones here, we prefer to center around ourselves.
My point is that the Bible is the best fiction book there is and God is a really lovely character.

Without proof, its just fanciful thinking that there is a god. All observation points to the creation by our primitive barbarian ancestor who created god to explain the unknown. This was before the laws of gravity, Newtonian physicis, quantum physics and all the other common sense explanations for the workings of the universe were discovered.

Obsolete genes do not die overnite, however, therefore you'll be seeing the belief in gods, goddesses, spirits and things that go bump in the nite for some time to come.

If you want something from Him, yes, you must believe He is there to give. The reality or otherwise of God is irrelevant for those who are confident of themselves as long as the confidence lasts. Because everyone of us has weaknesses, there is no alternative but to believe one day or the other that God is real.

This is a debatable question. I personally believe God is real and have had experiences to prove this to me. Others not believe there is a God, and since God is not going to interact with those people, there no way to prove God exists to them.
Draw near to God, and God, will draw near to you.

I believe that God is real.I have been brought up as an Afrikaans Christian child who went to the NG church since I was small. Then in my teenage phase I started asking some questions about my faith.I started doing research on other believes and in some cases even tried to practice them, but in the end only my faith in God helped me.

Seems this is a question best not asked to strangers, but one one should pose to oneself. My experiences dealing with questions like this from theists has shown me that no one will really convince each other or change each other's minds, all we can do is educate ourselves and each other. Or you can always have someone else like a priest or your parents tell you this "God" is "real"...

Yes, who were your parent's parent's parent's.....you get the point. After a long time it would lead up to Adam and Eve. And also how did you come here anyways? Mom and Dad and God.
