Websites that provide free appraisals?

How can I find out how much an original signed painting by is worth without paying for an appraisal? The painting is by the artist Lon Megargee.

Free stuff is worth exactly what you paid for it.......nothing. If you are going to take the time to get an appraisal, of a piece you obviously think has value, then pay the slight fee to have it done.

Just make it clear to the appraiser that this is not part of a sale to him or on consignment by them. If reputable, then when you are insuring or trying to sell the piece, you will information in hand. If you wait until then, the appraisal may cost significantly more.
