We continue to make mistakes because a lot of people are uneducated in history. The victors of wars paint their history books with rosy colors. For example, how many people in the United States even knows about the horrendous acts of violence we've committed? Assassinating foreign leaders, and the like? Probably a handful of students who eventually forget.

We continue to kill and hurt because there is no continuity in the experience of humanity. This is to say that when we say 'Never Again' that this sentiment and the memories from the event which occurred is some how added to a collective human experience of perpetual progress is not a reflection of reality. People and populations are in constant flux and made up of numerous distinct and separate individuals. They are continuously manipulated by factors such as time, society, politics, race and place. Children are born with no memories of horror, veterans can be convinced to forget the horrors of war. This concept of humanity is rampant in Western and liberal (classical sense) thought. We are individuals and live in the moment, only if we are taught continuously as a whole can the memories perpetuate. But there are too many which choose to forget or simply through apathy or a kind of empathetic atrophy create new generations ready for corruption in violence.

Because most people suffer from denial. They don't practice being truthful to themselves(like actors always getting into characters they believe themselves to be), or others. They look in the mirror and dillude themselves and run through the average day as if they were walking on air. The down side for most is the real world, when they have to face the facts that they are evil and that they are not liked or loved by all. That they cant get away with it. Have you ever trapped a rat? Well try sometime and see how the rat reacts? That is the humans you are asking about. They are called subhumans and un-natural beings trying to blind us and control us and bring about their lies to be reality. At one time they almost had the whole world believing there was not ever a holocaust. Can you believe that ? Well it is true. Look at serial killers they bury them in cement and for years they think they can hide. But trust me they cant hide, and they can only run till they run out of air. And when they are deflated like a hot air balloon and squeal away to the grown all flat and wrinkled that is where they belong. Isnt it sad that when we read history of our human race and our accomplishments it has always been in bloodshed and look how many tyrants? Pitiful, and real lame for us to call ourselves evolved or intelligent isnt it? What we do in the dark comes out in the light. They will all go down one day trust me.

Well, we do not repeat them exactly. I don't see anyone today as evil as Hitler or Stalin, World War III has not started yet and none of genocides that happened in the last 60 years was like the Holocaust.
But you are right that we don't learn enough from the past. I wish there was no more war and no more genocide at all.

No, we don't repeat the evils of the past. Humans always do seem to learn from the past and alter only slightly from the past. It seems as though humans need to make every mistake possible before they find a solution.
I have no idea what a solution would be to "never again" unless I nuked the entire planet and then said "never again"

Very simple really...money....power...greed...control
Its all a power struggle between men of little conscience, making decisions in the "name of the people" that "the people" would cringe at if they were privy to half of the goings on of these so called "super powers". We cannot judge what we do not know. The common man committing these atrocities is just following the command of his superior officer who in turn is following the command and lead of his superior and so on and so on. So where does the buck stop? The man at the bottom believes he is doing what is best to protect his country, the man in the middle believes he is doing what is best to protect his job, and the man at the top? What does he believe? Does he really believe his hands are clean? Because he is not the one with the dirty knife or gun? What is his motivation? To make the world a safer place?
Or wait.... maybe its just very simple really...money....power...greed...control

This is the meaning and richness in life. Each new generation that passes presents new opportunuties for each and every life to decide for themselves how they will answer the call that can not be denied, to forgive or to react with revenge. What can I personally do in mylife that leads me towards peace patience kindness and various other qualities I continue to strive towards? What do I choose to do with each imposition I am faced with? I have begun to see each as a stepping stone towards my own higher identity. Each unkind act I must endure teaches me to look at my own unkindess and therfore I develope more compassion. Each opportunity requires that I grow further and further in developing tolerance. I aspire to :
Never agian will I see my self as less then these circimstances.
I try to see my own need to grow out of the sins I am born into by working past them... Where have I indulged in: envy, greed, lust, slothe, pride, wrath and fear in my life that I need to correct and not indulge in anymore? Where have I in all my humble humaness hurt or caused others harm. Trust me I have my plate full just getting to the answers of my own self centerness . You are not alone. We all are in this together and we can overcome our circimstances into peace each day. Therefor I cannot start a revolution with world leaders befor I take my own inventory, Thanks for bringing to the surface my own inner struggle today, honestly I am sure I have thought of your question my self more then once today.
Thanks... These circumstances can not be wiped off the earth by a mere mortal, they were not created by a mortal. How ever I tend to forget that sometimes. Thats why, in my arrogance, I think they should disappear just because they require me to sacrifice and surrender in some way.
Good question.
p.s... we are all going to die, but thats not really real. I read somewhere Reality is beyond our comprehension.

We say "never again" because humans are optimists by nature. As far as crying out, 'Look, the Emperor is without clothes' goes, people do cry out but quite often they are being shut up.
