We've been friends since 8th grade, and I think he liked me even back then, but I was too stupid to pay attention and act on it, although once in 9th grade, I did get him a calendar for Christmas. (Wow, I can't believe I did that, looking back.) I'm REALLY interested in him now, and we are going to the movies for my 17th b-day on Friday. He's kind of shy, and I want to know if he's interested in me as a friend, or something more. I may bring a girl friend to the movies too.
He usually has one or two things to say to me as I enter the classroom, then that's it, and he leaves without looking back. He babbled on about how he'd have to be really sick and puking and bleeding for his mom to let him stay home, the one day his best friend (a dude) was absent, although he did walk with me out of the classroom that day. This past Fri. we had a fire drill, and I saw him with his friends, his friends sort of pointed me out to him, but he looked up, then back away very quickly. (I was far away.) ..

The European Commission has just announced an agreement whereby English will be the official language of the EU rather than German, which was the other possibility. As part of the negotiations, Her Majesty's Government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a 5-year phase-in plan that would be known as "EuroEnglish."

In the first year, "s" will replace the soft "c" . . . Sertainly, this will make the sivil servants jump with joy. The hard "c" will be dropped in favor of the "k." This should klear up konfusion and keyboards kan have 1 less letter.

There will be growing publik enthusiasm in the sekond year, when the troublesome "ph" will be replased with the "f." This will make words like "fotograf" 20% shorter.

In the 3rd year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be expekted to reach the stage where more komplikated changes are possible.

This kid on my college soccer team use to be a very angry kid and got yellow/red cards all the time. Well, over the summer he got saved (found Jesus). Now whenever some player gets pissed at him he responds with "love". Players get pissed at him and he will just go up and hug them sometimes or some other act of kindness. The players have a look of shock and confusion upon their face. Players don't know how to handle it. It's something I really don't understand when I think about it. These players are big strong guys, but a simple act of love renders them helpless. This is interesting and I just wanted to know what you all thought of this...

I used to completely believe in the afterlife but now I don't know anymore. My mom (who is dead) never left me any signs or anything to prove that she is still here. So if you have, please share your experiences. Thanks.

The only reason someone could possibly be against it is if they had no idea what it acutally entails. Freedom from religion is not a demand that one never encounter religion, religious believers, or religious ideas at all.

What it does entail is that the government never sponser or encourage a particular religion, because doing so would give the idea that belonging to that religion means that you are favored by the government, and that the people who aren't are inferior in some way.

In other words, freedom from religion does not mean being free from seeing churches, but it does mean being free from churches getting governing financing; it doesn't mean being free from encountering people handing out religious tracts on a street corner, but it does mean being free from government-sponsored religious tracts;

We're not trying to take away religious freedom, but we are trying to make it a fair game for everyone else. Get the idea?

I have a family member with a bond fund. She is getting a 5.75% yield (monthly dividend / the value of her holdings for that month) yet she has watched the price of the fund drop from $9.69 (per share) to $9.31. She is concerned that she has reached a point where the investment won't recover (she is retired).
While the yield (monthly dividend) is good, the value of her holdings has dropped $3,000 (due to share price decrease). Since US interest rates aren't rising too my knowledge (Feds keep cutting their rates) why is the price decreasing? Should she bail? If not, why not (she is retired and has a low risk tolerance)

Thanks
