I think you should have him/her talk to you about his/her problems, because you have to get to the root of why he/she is cutting. Just be there for them, and when they cry, hug them, and let them know that they can trust you.
I have cutted myself and my friend was the one who got me out of that, and for that I am truly grateful and honored to call her my friend.
Hope this helps.

Well from experience with this sort of stuff (my friend used to cut) confront her about it. Don't do it in a big group of friends, if you have another close friend who is close with her to have her help. Just explain to her that you love her and you don't want to loose her. Ask her to see someone for help, and if she isn't comfortable with that then i would consider telling a parent. If you do have to tell a parent and you think you shouldn't because it will make your Friend mad do it anyway. She may be mad at you for a while, but after she gets help she will eventually be thankful. Please get her help soon though... good luck

First of all they probably want you help and secondly im 21 and i have had several friends in the past who cut themselves and they mainly do it for attention..im not saying your friend is..she could have a serious depression problem but first you need to find the root of why she is cutting herself and go from there.

Tell her that there is no reason to cut if you love her, Make sure you know why she is cutting herself and find out if she thinks that people dont love her or not. If her parents are not abusive or anything i would let them know so they can help. Or maybe you could ask your parents.

A person who cuts probably has very serious mental health problems. Your friend's parents should be informed so they can help your friend get the help that he/she needs. I recommend that you talk to your parents so they can help you inform your friend's parents. You might also talk to a school counselor about it.

i have been in the same situation.
first you just talk to her about it ( her problem ) and try to take her mind of cutting herself
spend alot of time with her just to make sure she isnt doing it
maybe alert her mum or dad but not like in her face, cause they need 2 know, as they r da ones that can help her most/him.

Just ask her about it, "hey.. what is that" Be as simple and naive as you can be. Coming at them too forcefully may scare them. Don't pressure them to talk if they don't want, then again, they may really want to talk. Be sure before you have that talk with your friend, research yourself, so you're not completly caught by surprise. Don't threaten them. Make sure they know you're there for them. But never say, "if you don't stop, I wont be your friend anymore." or even, "Please stop for me" People can only stop for themselves, ultimately. Be patient with them and most importantly, be there for them, without judgement. Good luck hun.

first of all, you shouldn't keep that a secret. if her parents aren't aware of this, they need to be, no matter if you have sworn secrecy or not. cutting can be damaging to your friend, who should seek medical attention for this. there are doctors and professionals who are trained to deal with these types of problems. let her know you are there for her throughout it all, but make sure she seeks to get help asap.

look up some stories about other people who have cut, what it did to their life, how they recovered, and how happily they are living now. Put together a nice little project for him/her and show him/her how much you care.

is this a trick question? however you found out, she's probably looking for you to help her even if she didn't exactly say that. try talking to someone you can trust confidentially and anonymously
