i have been to several weddings recently where there was almost 200 people and all were cash bar. i was invited to a "jack and jill" for all. most couples made it clear that these events were for them to make money for their weddings. i was invited to bridal showers where many of the invitations indicated that monetary gifts were emphasied. there were never any bridal registries indicated and it was communicated via word-of mouth that cash was the only option for wedding gifts. i totally understand that parents do not pay for weddings anymore.........my sister is really tight for her own wedding due to this. why don't people do what is within their means? i.e. if you can't have an open bar.......just invite immediate family? treat the guests you can afford to invite really well. what's with the wedding extravagence for people that can't afford it? when i got married it was city hall, dinner for 15 and a good nights sleep in a nice hotel. what's up with todays weddings? please advise.

Every culture on the planet had it's own set of religious beliefs, and only one of them involved the deity known by the generic term "God." Every other religion had specific names for their deities, sometimes multiple names for those deities. Yet none of them were named Jesus, and none of them foretold of the arrival of a man named Jesus that would change their religion.

People like to argue that everyone is worshipping the same god under different names, but this can't be since only Christianity has the deity it proclaims as the world's savior. If the world really was worshipping the same deity, and Christianity was this deity's only approved path, then why wouldn't this deity send a Jesus to each and every nation at the time that it decided to make Christianity it's official religion? Why wouldn't it decide to focus on a subset of a particular geographical region, instead of making sure everyone was aware of the change at the same time?

Became really cool friends with a classmate (college) We decided no relationship, but had love for each other. We did have a sexual relationship that benefited both of us and we always had fun. We managed to keep our private relationship from our friendship which was even better. Well we got into a really bad argument bc he asked me to pick him up from wk, and after i dropped everything i was doing, when i got there, he had already found another ride. Keep in mind I was clear across town. That started a huge argument bc this wasn't the first time that happened, he did little things like this often. Now he ignores my calls and text messages, continues to sit next to me in class, and won't even look at me. Two weeks later i go to his house, and he tells me the reason was bc when i get angry it's bad, and I don't let things go. He was supposed to be my best male friend, and he took our friendship away without discussing it with me first. It literally broke my heart I don't get it

I realize that it’s only $20 but what bugs me the most is the person who borrowed it. My husband’s friend’s wife texted me one day and asked if I could lend her $10 or $20 as she didn’t have any money left until payday. I agreed and even met her by her job so she wouldn’t have to worry about driving to me. She seemed very grateful at the moment, however, I now believe all she wanted was to use me. That happened probably two and a half or three months ago.

I called her about a month ago to see what she was doing, not related to the money at all, and she kind of brushed me off because she had company. So I left it at that. She has never made an attempt to pay me back, and she hasn’t even called to talk or anything. I can’t imagine that she is dodging me over $20 so that’s what makes me think she just wanted to use me.

Sometimes it seems as if the fundies / dispensationalists are BRAGGING about how wicked our generation is. Seriously, as bad as 9/11 was, was it worse than the Holocaust? The bubonic plague? How can anyone say that this generation is the worst generation ever?
