Sometimes it seems as if the fundies / dispensationalists are BRAGGING about how wicked our generation is. Seriously, as bad as 9/11 was, was it worse than the Holocaust? The bubonic plague? How can anyone say that this generation is the worst generation ever?

Every generation has had people who believed the end was at hand; so far, they've all been wrong.

A little study in history would cure a lot of this "it's all going crazy and ending" stuff.

I think that perhaps how 2/3 of Paris was wiped by the plague would probably have been seen as a sign too, 240 years ago.

Ooops

And they, as of yet, are still wrong. You are right there have been horrible things in almost every, or almost every, generation. The thing is though, some people tend to block out that which they do not want to remember. Older people don't wish to remember the Holocaust but 9/11 is now and so they think it's so much worse. The plague, people see that as gone so they forget about it...what they don't realize is that almost every horrible tragedy lead to a spring back in the economy or was eventually rebuilt, cured, or remade. People will always say that the end is near, they'll usually, if not always, be wrong, and of course, horrible things will continue to happen.

This is the end of the 6th age, the sixth seal, and the beginning of the last and final age, the 7th age, the seventh seal has been open. We are now at Revelation 8:7 and Revelation 17:18. The 10th king will take office in 2009.

The 10th king is the next president of the U.S. and the last seal is but a half-a-time, 980 years.

The time of the "blessed" is the year 2800 AD, each and every 140 years beginning 1960 a bowl will cleanse the earth. until the last 7 "Utterances" have been spoken and then shall the end come.

We are not talking about tragedies when we talk about how bad our generation. We are talking about morals. A world where pornography is accessible to anyone and half the shows on tv would have been banned in our parents generation. A world in which anything you want to do is fine as long as it hurts no one. A world in which an unborn baby is considered disposable if it might inconvenience the parents. A world where crime is rampant. Yes the holocaust was bad but it was basically limited to one country. Today the whole world is becoming an immoral mess.

You are right though every generation since Christ has thought they were the last. So we could be wrong. We also could be right.

I read somewhere the other week that by the end of the century humans are going to be endangered species, becuase of global warming and the like. But this isn't due to our generation is it? It's due to the generation of people who created this stuff. So basically it's the previous generation who is wicked, not ours.

Thinking about it now - I'm not sure if I actually answered your questions, but this took me too long to type to delete it, so I'm going for it.

each and every era has those people who have self belief that the international will end and that Jesus will return and that aliens will invade and that climate substitute is taking place or something radical like that. confident a number of them would take place yet no longer unavoidably in our era. that is no longer that they are terrified of the actuality that it will take place, its greater that they choose to be waiting to make certain something like that take place. the prophecies of Christianity and Nostradamus created and the "scientific information" that Al Gore got here up with are so huge that merely approximately something would nicely be considered a demonstration that it will take place. for occasion Nostradamus expected a devastating typhoon would hit a huge city, people theory it grew to become into Katrina, yet hurricanes and tsunamis take place each and every of the time to important cities like New Orleans. Well we are the physical manifestation of our egos and such being the case the importance of any element in the world or universe for that matter is generally personalized so we can interpret it, if in fact we can't control it. So then, yes it is.

It's all just a childish revenge-fantasy. It's "Big Brother Jesus is on the way to beat you up for disagreeing with me!"

"The whole of the belief in heaven, and in hell, of a great upheaval of existing conditions, and their supersession by a permanent state of reward and punishment, is suited, both to the masters for efficient bribes and threats which cost them nothing, and to the slaves to gratify (equally without expense) their hopes of emancipation and revenge, or, when they have become ineradicably slaves, their prospect of adequate reward for that subservience." -Crowley.

Ever since Jesus said the end would come soon people including the new testament writers believed it was going to be in their life time.
