I got a lot of grief for asking who already knew this a few days ago.

The question is "Do you think the Pope is the antichrist?

"One of the many blasphemous titles given to the Pope is the title of "Vicar of Christ". This title comes from the title used by Constantine, Vicarius Christi. "Vicarius" or "Vicar" means "a substitute" or "another" (See any Dictionary: Oxford, Random House, American, Webster's, etc.). Thus, the title "Vicar of Christ" means "a substitute for Christ" or "another Christ."
All Catholics and Protestants are in agreement that Christ is God, and that makes this title all the more blasphemous; because then it means "a substitute for God" or "another God." It must also be noted for the sincere Catholic that in Greek the title "Vicar of Christ" is "anti-christos" or "anti-Christ" (See Strong's #473 & 5547). "

Normally when people make outrageous claims, there's no point in disproving them because of how obnoxious they are to begin with. God is no different. When you claim that there's an all-powerful sky daddy ruling over the universe with an iron fist, you should be the ones bringing evidence to the table.

And don't give me that "you have to have faith" crap. Why would you have faith in a bronze age mythological book? Because mommy and daddy told you to? Bologna. Blind faith is not a good reason to believe there's a God (or gods) because, frankly, there's nothing to back it up. Hence the phrase "blind faith." There are countless scientific arguments against the concept of God, and none that support it. The only reason to think a God exists is because of what a few people wrote thousands of years ago, most of which was plagiarized from even earlier religions.

Religion is a crutch for people who are unwilling to deal with the realities of life and death. Prove me wrong.

I mean, the military is very effecient, they seem to have all the answers. They have a manual that spells everything out. No grey areas here. So how about it, is a Military Dictatorship what we need?
Also, I kind of like those sexy uniforms we would all have to wear.

(specifically.....that you believe there is nothing after death, you just die)

How would you personally convince someone to not commit suicide?

I mean if life is just a matter of 60-80+ years (if you're lucky), we're all just random evolved organisms with little purpose beyond how we interact with other people for the brief time we're on earth, life is basically a crap shoot and ultimately you're just worm food anyway... What encouragement would you give a person that their LIFE is worth living?

If there are no other conceivable options, does that mean an atheist is forced to believe that evolution is true based on their underlying assumption that there is no God?

Isn't this circular reasoning?

ok, so there is a guy i have been talking back and fourth with for about a month an a half.. well i finally went and stayed all night with him, and he was so sweet to me.. i have never had someone be so sweet to me b4. even tho i dont like to cuddle, i cuddled with him all night, while he held my hand... the whole night.. everytime i would move he would grab me , kiss the back of my neck, and grab my and, and go back to sleep.. i am really starting to have feelings for him, but i dont want to be the one chasing him.. he works a ton of hours a week, and is always wore out an tired...he has told me on he doesnt want to get hurt, he has also been married 2ce. ...i guess my question is, do u think that if someone doesn't want to get hurt, then they are distant? just dont know.... should i even waste my time on someone who is so very closed up, or help him become more open? he doesn't call as much as i would think he would, considering he has told me how much he likes me...

we are just classmates..he did not show any interest in me before..but last week we came across in the hallway and he asked me out for a movie(very casual)..

then at a party, he said to two female mutual friends: hey L(my name), did you tell them we went to see a movie together yesterday?

and my female friend said: you and P(his name) went out for a date! I responded: no..it is not a date..just hang out...

then he said: L(my name), you can not say it does not mean anything...

what does this mean?!?

then today we met in the cafeteria..he invited me to his new house for thanksgiving and also house warming...(of course there are other friends...)

so I do not get him...is he interested or just I think too much?
be frank..thanks!!

It's funny to me how so much of the American culture resembles Rome. For instances the Romans took over cultures and made it their own, the U.S. does/did the same. The Romans named a temple Capitol for they worshipped the God Jupiter in on Capitoline, the U.S. has the Capitol building in Washington D.C. There are various cities, landmarks, etc. named after the famous Roman politican Cicero. The Romans really didn't have a architecture of their own, so what they did was used multiculturalism (Greek, Asian, African, etc.) to create monuments, structures, etc. U.S. today does exactly that. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Not to mention amusement. Both Rome and the U.S. use deadly sports (whether it's gladiatorism, football, boxing, wrestling, which came from the Greco-Roman era, even executions of criminals.) What separates us as Americans (even America derived from the name of the Italian navigator Amerigo Vespucci 1454-1512) from the Romans?
