Goats are related to sheep, so I will say it takes like sheep. Do you know what halal means? Halal is an Arabic term meaning permissble. Muslims are to slaughter their animals in a ceratin way in order for the meat to be halal. The basics are to use a clean sharp knife and then mention With The Name of Allaah/God, and Allaah/God Is Great. The animal must be treated kindly and shouldn't see the knife before slaughter. All of these things are for a reason and there is much more to it.

Goat meat tastes not nearly as strong as lamb, but you can use it in the same recipes you would use lamb in. If it's a youngish goat then it's not tough, and it's always low in cholesterol.
If the meat is fairly fatty, then a great way to cook it is simply to steam it for a couple of hours. Make sure the water doesn't run out. Then serve with plenty of cumin and salt - each person uses their hands to eat it, removing any excess fat. They help themselves to the cumin and salt. You can eat the meat in pitta breads and serve salads with it.
Bon Appetit

Goat taste great once prepare correctly. It does not taste like chicken. It taste like beef with a slight different taste then beef. Some people don't like that different taste and try to cover the taste by adding ginger or curry which gives it a terrific taste. My goat never comes out hard, this is because I have a pressure pot. So if you are considering in eating goat try it with either curry or ginger. These spices tend to cover the funny taste I mentioned earlier.

delicious!!
It's like lamb in taste but more like beef in texture.
Cook it the same as you would stewed lamb, by frying first to seal it and then cooking for a long time to make it tender.
It taste best as curry goat. Go to your local West Indian take away, as they will have it on the menu, and try it for youeself before you try to cook with it yourself. Then you will get an idea of how it's meant to taste.

I had a meat Bhuna from our local Indian, little did I know it was goat meat, untill someone told me. If it was goat, it tastes like lamb, that's what I thought it was at first, although you can't really tell when it's in curry.

When I went to Jamaica and got a hamburger, I found out later it was goat. I knew it tasted different, It was O.K., I probably wouldn't eat it if I knew it was goat though.
