I've got a fight in about a month against a guy that i've known for a while. Any ideas on ways to gain a mental edge or play head games with him?

Hop around like a boxer. If there is kicking then try a little savate. Savate is a martial art developed in France. It's basically French kick boxing. If he gives you a little blood then do what Bruce Lee did and lick your blood. Or before the fight starts give him a little stare and grin.
If your undersized then remember the famous quote by President Dwight David Eisenhower: "It isn't the size of the dog in the fight that matters. It's the size of the fight in the dog." Don't say that to Michael Vick. Hah. Sorry. Had to say that.

Just have confidence in yourself that is the best, people are animals and at some level they can smell fear so if you are not fearfull (adrenalin is alright and bein excited) this will give you an edge, and thing you can do like shaving your head or wearing paint i think people will just laugh at especialy experienced fighters it might actually work against you because it will seem like you have to do something extra to show off because you are lacking somewhere else

Change and develop new techniques to keep you opponent off guard and guessing . This not only mental but physical edge, being you both fought in bouts before; each of you knows the others moves.

well actualy you could do what undertaker does on the wrestling lol wel ya cudnt but ya know :P
1 thing thats worked for me before is being every where they are , not lyk right next to them and that kind of like a 2 now you see me , now you dont" kind of thing
also when you see him have a smile on ur face not like a freindly one but a cheesey one cos that can piss them off and sumtimes they even chicken out of a fight lol
