that the central air and furnace units are past prime (circa 1987) and need to be replced. The sellers agent didn't put oil in for us to test the furnace-maybe they knew the issue?-so we weren't able to operate it but the inspector went on it's age and avg life expectancy and the AC blew a 4% diff so it is shot. Otherwise house was in good shape-roof is good for at least 10 years and she said it is in great shape for it's age (built in 73). Our agent is well, peeved that the other agent didn't fill the tank and that the heat and ac are not in good shape. She said that we need to ask for either credit of the cost of a new heat pump (around $4,000) or tell them to pay all closing costs. She asl found out after checking the sign in log at the house that an inspection was done about a month ago, called that agent and her clients got the same info on the place and pulled the offer. The house dropped 14,000 in price since. What are the odds we can get them to work with us on this?

My boyfriend is going to charge me $600 a month to move into his house. I am pregnant with his child and he already has 2 kids(that are from a previous relationship) living with him in his 3 bedroom home. He said we will split the cost in half for the babies needs. Does this sound reasonable?

I got into a talk about this with a friend of mine who is currently has a white girlfriend. I told him I won't date a white woman and it's not because of anything I have against them, but because I believe in black families. I believe that with all the damage that's been done to black families in history, it's important that we have strong, healthy black families to build better black communities.

He wasn't really seeing my point and after talking more with him about why he's dating a white woman, it became more clear to me that he's one of the many black men I believe date white women simply because they are a trophy....it's a social status thing. These black men see dating a white woman as "dating up". And they flaunt their white girlfriends when they go out to the clubs and places.

For you others out there, especially African-Americans, do you think this is real or just in my head? And is it a problem?

Why or why not?

In your opinion, how does quality, available, and affordable healthcare fit into your vision of a quality society?

And as always, state your political affiliation, if you wouldn't mind.

Thanks.

The Bible says in James 1:27, "Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world."
I personally have never seen ANY organization that follows what the Bible deems "pure religion".

How does the JW religion follow this biblical guideline?
Are you ministering to the needs of the widows and fatherless?

I've heard many JWs refer to people who adopt christianity through helping organizations as "rice christians". That they are only following the teachings because they were given food or some other form of help.

Visiting the fatherless and widow in their afflictions doesn't mean stopping by to indoctrinate--it means providing for the PHYSICAL NEEDS of the person. Their "affliction" is that they are now improverished. They need food and clothing. They need people invested in their lives in a real physical way--not just committed to study a magazine with them.

My ten
Saddam is a threat to America
Saddam was involved in 9/11
They have WMDs and are building nukes
They will greet us as liberators
Quick war
They will come over here if we leave (so why are they not here now? Not that easy to just come over here)
They want democracy
No civil war
insurgents in last throes

And more........how about costs of the war and loss of funding for medical research here. That cancer cure will have to wait while 1500 die daily of cancer in America.

From what I gather from my wife and other Catholics is when they pray they pray to saints.. Kinda like calling a servicedesk and pushing the correct number associated with what you need.. so number 3 may be helping a sick family member while 7 would be , help with a job.
so my question is--- is there any other Christian or other religion that prays to a saint that takes the message to god? And.. why not pray to the man himself?

If you are the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs and you want to invade China, would you do it through 1) an Airborne Assault (including Air Assault) by U.S. Army Light Infantry units, such as the 101st & 82nd Airborne and 75th Ranger, dropping behind enemy lines to establish an 'airhead' first 2) an Amphibious Assault by the U.S. Marine Corps, landing on the coast to establish a 'beachhead' first 3) or a traditional Land-Based Assault by U.S. Army Heavy Armour units using overwhelming force to punch your way through the country?

i was watching this bbc documentary on the ongoing "debate" between evolution and intelligent design. part of the documentary discussed the issue of why it's so difficult (mathematically, nearly impossible) to recreate life. consider the following example. take a deck of 52 poker cards. shuffle the deck and lay them out one at a time from the top of the deck to bottom in a straight line face up. note the order of the cards. then, repeat the entire process until you come up with the exact same order. assume, the original order of the cards represents the factors that had to go in to creating life. while it is true, that you could spend your entire life trying to recreate the conditions, and still never achieve the original order of the deck of cards, it does not change the fact that the original order did occur. does it?

Hello there my Yahoo friends. How are you doing today?
I remember when I was a kid and could not wait to go
to McDonalds. It came to my town in 1984. And has
been big ever since. I have a favorite meal there. Which
is the double quarter pounder with bacon and cheese,
large fries, choclate chip cookies, apple pie, and a
vanilla milk shake. And then I might go back and get a
McChicken, too. Simple. But still the best tasting
sandwhiches in the restaurant. Since day one. Do you
have a favorite McDonalds meal ? Best answer wins.

I am filling out an employment application for a company from which I had received a job offer. One of the questions they ask me is to explain any gaps in my employment history. I have had one (for 7 month) 2 years ago, for very personal and tragic reasons, major life changing experiences, and relocation. How do I state it in the application, without having to recap everything that had happened to me?

Appreciate your help!

my 26 months old girl neither speak well nor understand verbal commands, although she can immtate some difficult words that means she has no problem with her speaking mechanism. But she dosen't understand verbal commands.she has no hearing problem, I evaluated her by a psycho-analyst 4 months ago, but the report was within normal range. she use to talk with hershelf meaninglessly and occationally she pronounces some perticular lines of poems or some words which she use to listen from us. but these thing she use to do very rarely.I have consulted many doctors (paediatrician to speech pathologist) but the problem persists.as if her speech and learning development is suddenly stopped. she is otherwise doing well with her movements, enjoying poems and music, eating well. She is neither autistic nor hyperactive(as told by doctors)but her attention span is very short. I am very much worried about her speech development. what should I do?

I have worked in a bakery for 17 years. took a break from it for a while and just recently went back to being a cake decorator. About 3 weeks ago my back started hurting so badly that I am unable to function. I am able to go to work but I am in extreme pain. The Dr. will not see me till the 3rd of Oct. I cannot bend in the morning and wake up with a terrible backache. What do people do when they can't do the job that they have done all of their life? I have children to take care of and just can't stop working. But, I can't continue with this pain either. Any ideas?
