You are going to have to deal with it until the docs get into gear and figure something out, whether that is pain management or whatever course of treatment they recommend. Until then, you can use a combo of Motrin, aspirin, and Tylenol. Use some heat and try to relax (hot tubs work great) or just use a heating pad or hot baths. Epsom salts help in the bath. Stretch out your back and leg muscles as often as you can, and try sleeping somewhere else (different bed, recliner, sofa, etc)
Good luck with that. Welcome to the joys of back pain; I hope for you that it is not long term or chronic.

Q1 Yes, dependent on the severity of the pain, it can interfere with your ability to act more clearly wiht better choices. Q2 Yes, when patients start to get better, they are more irritable and short with others. Q3 Yes, it will affect interactions especially as the person becomes discouraged and defeated. Q4 Excellent questions, some would say you do . . . especially if you have pyschosomatic pain. Q5 IMHO, free choice is working when you go find the source of the pain and get it corrected. Acting to cover the pain (distraction & refocusing) only works for some pains and not all.

Well I get back pain from time to time as well. I have gone to the doc just for him to tell me it is my weight. Well regardless if it is my weight, I am still having a problem. I have just been stuck to taking pain medicine, over the counter stuff and kinda just dealing with it. I am tall and anything I do like sweeping, doing dishes I have to bend over a bit which puts a strain on my back. Try to get some of those thermacare patches and see if that works til you can see your doctor. It is a achy muscle pain or a sharp intense pain like a pinching. The pinching is a pinched nerve which I have...feels like someone is poking me with a hot knife or something. If it is muscle try to get a massage

I am sorry to hear about the pain that you are experiencing, but have you been to the doctor? There are medications that doctors can prescribe to help you deal with the pain enough so that you can continue to maintain your life. Good luck and I hope that you feel better soon.

I can attest that sometimes age is taking its toll, plus you might have a weight problem. Somehow we overweight people want the doctor to tell us it is something else or have a magic wand to allow us to continue to abuse our bodies.
I take ibuprophin for minor aches. Some people swear by chiropractors.
