Many people advocate a flat tax which seems fair on the face of it, but ignores a crucial fact: the poorer you are, the greater the percentage of your income that goes to survival needs like food, shelter, clothing, transportation, utilities, etc, and the less income you have available for play, investment, savings, or taxes.

This is why there is an earned income tax credit--some people make so little that it doesn't cover the essentials.

I don't think people should be penalized for being successful. If your income rises, your take home pay should rise too. But that can still happen with a system based on ability to pay.

For the wealthiest, changes in tax rate don't crimp their standard of living but rather how many generations of their descendants can survive without working or even making investment decisions for themselves.

I'm not sure why anyone should be outraged that the children of the children of the children of Paris Hilton might have to get a job.

We both have pretty good credit, I've never had a late payment but have quite a bit of debt. My husband doesn't have nearly the debt I do but had some late payments about 3-4 years ago and has since paid those accounts off. So together we have fair/good credit but want to get better credit. What are some things we can do in the next 6-12 months that will help? We are trying to raise our credit scores because we want to refinance our home at a good rate. So, what's some good, sensible advice to raising credit scores?

I threw up about 2 hours ago. There was a worm in it that was about 4 inches long, transpaetn white color, and looked like a spaghetti noddle. I thought only cats and dogs got these. Should i just call my doctor, or go to the ER?

I really haven't learned anything about bikes.
For instance how to put a bike together and the fixed gears and what not.
I'm looking for a 10 speed bike. If thats what their called.
But I also heard I could make it myself by getting the parts.

Hi!

You guys have to help me! Ok, there was this guy that I kinda had some feelings for. He seemed so nice and perfect (his personality). And he has told everybody that he has feelings for me. We have spend time together almost everyday. At Saturday he was at this party with one of my friends and they slept together! Now I'm just so dissapointed in him, and I just want to hurt him so bad!

Im heading back to college soon and getting ready to dorm shop. Last year I learned that half the stuff freshman buy is useless and overpriced and that the stuff retailers push as college gear is a joke. So I am humbly seeking the yahoo answers community for your ideas of great college and dorm gear. My best college buy is a thermos and a pair of rollerblades, every college student should have these. Look, guys - I've been on here for a month, now, and I'm sadly addicted, I love it here, and I love you guys and your answers.

This is part question, part plea - PLEASE, PLEASE do not feed the trolls anymore! Seriously, it seems that no matter what race, if a hispanic person wears abercrombie & fitch or skater clothes they get looked down upon by black & hispanics for not wearing Ecko/Sean John/Rocawear (or urban wear in general) and white people give them weird looks. Why?

And when it comes to dealing (talking and such), most blacks will talk to hispanics like they come from the 'hood or something, and even other hispanics have this ghetto expectation. Why is it so bad if a hispanic person speaks proper english and chooses to be nothing like that? I know it all has to deal with the area you were raised in, but let's face it not all hispanics are from the barrio or ghetto (or even from another country).

So why is it that when me and my friends (we're all hispanic and rockers, btw), go to NYC and places where there's a high hispanic/blk population, other hispanics and blacks will give us these really bad looks. Just because we're choosing not to be ignorant doesn't make us bad.

my grandma has had 2 nose bleeds in 2 days, she went to the hospital yesterday and they did blood tests, their thinking of going to her cancer doctor to see what it might be. btw she only has one lung because her other one collapsed and they say that now her heart is on the right side of her body, would this have anything to do with the nose bleeds?
