It's an extreme measure, but get the police involved if you have to. Since you're 18, those documents are now your legal possessions, and your parents have no inherent rights or privileges to keep them without your consent.

You are an adult, take charge of your own life now. You don't need their permission to do anything.

You are 18 and have a right to live on your own if you can finacailly afford to do so. Remember if you leave your parents on bad terms when you do need help they may not be so willing to offer a hand. But regarding documents you can get those from the state. Get your birth certificate from vital statics office, Social Security from social security office, and passport I am not sure of but I am sure there is some help with this as well.

You can get copies of your birth cert and social security card from the state.

they can't forbid it nor can they keep legal documents from you. just go. you can, like the other answerer said, get the police involved if you run into any serious trouble with them.
why do they not want you to leave?

Make sure that you are going to be financially secure, and then get the police or authorities involved. Good luck!
