We see far to often, people demeaning supporters of the other political party, while they are trying to bring them to their way of thinking.

Does anyone really think that works ?

Apparently it gets a lot of folks elected to office. "Going negative" is one of the most often used tactics of campaign advisors. There's a great story about Lyndon Baines Johnson during one of his runs for a Senate seat from Texas. He wanted his staff to release a story that said his opponent had been having sex with barnyard animals. The staff was shocked and asked him if he realized the story wasn't true. Lyndon said he knew that, but he also knew his opponent would have to deny it.
I was stationed in South Carolina during the 1960 campaign. A lot of people got campaign phone calls to remind them that, if Kennedy were elected President, the Pope would be moving into the guest bedrooms at the White House. People were incensed and I guess a lot of them voted for Kennedy to show their extreme displeasure with this slur. The problem is that the phone calls came from the Kennedy campaign!

It never does, but some people just enjoy igniting controversy.

Can we be surprised? Look at all the bomb throwing pundits we have that laughably try to pass themselves off as journalists and news analysts.

Our society has been reduced to parroting what these clowns do every night on tv.

Nope..... They're just showing me how narrow minded they are. Don't usually pay much attention to them because they are just trying to start an argument.
