my grandma has had 2 nose bleeds in 2 days, she went to the hospital yesterday and they did blood tests, their thinking of going to her cancer doctor to see what it might be. btw she only has one lung because her other one collapsed and they say that now her heart is on the right side of her body, would this have anything to do with the nose bleeds?

Does she have high blood pressure?? With hypertension ( high blood pressure), spontaneous nosebleeds are quite common. If her heart isn't functioning properly, then this can cause HTN( hypertension). But, I agree with the Doc's that she should be evaluated by her cancer specialist, along with a Cardiologist ( heart doc). So, I'm sorry that I was unable to give you a better answer.I hope that she feels better. God Bless !!

If the 81 year old is on blood thinners call the doctor and suggest that a heart attack may be a better way to go than massive stroke. If not on blood thinners consider vitamin K (consult doctor) Vit K thickens blood and usually is very effective against nose bleed. It may already be too late as the stroke has already started. Often TIA's are caused by bleed but thinners are given because the most common cause is a blood clot.

I think the nose bleeds are caused by her snoring, her mouth open during the night while sleeping and the nasal passages get very dry. I suggest that you go to Pharmacy and buy Ocean Spray and use that as often as you wish, or have her use as often as she wishes as all it is , is a saline spray to keep the nasal passages moist. Good Luck !!!!
