Seriously, it seems that no matter what race, if a hispanic person wears abercrombie & fitch or skater clothes they get looked down upon by black & hispanics for not wearing Ecko/Sean John/Rocawear (or urban wear in general) and white people give them weird looks. Why?

And when it comes to dealing (talking and such), most blacks will talk to hispanics like they come from the 'hood or something, and even other hispanics have this ghetto expectation. Why is it so bad if a hispanic person speaks proper english and chooses to be nothing like that? I know it all has to deal with the area you were raised in, but let's face it not all hispanics are from the barrio or ghetto (or even from another country).

So why is it that when me and my friends (we're all hispanic and rockers, btw), go to NYC and places where there's a high hispanic/blk population, other hispanics and blacks will give us these really bad looks. Just because we're choosing not to be ignorant doesn't make us bad.

NJ honey, close to the NJ/NY tri-state area, and most of them there ARE ghetto, or at least try to be.

Safiyya, I'd like to live in your area, bc in my area most of the hispanics act or try to be ghetto.

Alex B, you are right but no hispanics were not enslaved by white people. In fact MOST hispanics are descendants of the Spanish Europeans (who ARE white).

Well,I'm Puerto Rican.I honestly don't expect anyone to be "ghetto".Although, people sometimes expect me to be.Hah,I've been labeled Goth,Emo etc..
But,I know exactly what you mean!At school once this African-American female came up to me and said 'Why are you listening to rock music'? And this one other girl told me "Wow,you speak so proper that's weird".
Lol,it's funny how people can be so prejudice.
My ex crush once told me how come im not 'urban'.I guess because will never understand, how 'individuality' works. It's sad how so many people feel the need to be place under a certain category.

It's not about them trying to be ghetto or whatever. It's just what they refer to be 'urban' comes along with culture around the certain area.
I know how you feel.Since me living here in Miami,it's full of Hispanic people and at school some will give me strange looks since,I'm Hispanic and dress in stockings and sometimes 'all black',but oh well if there's one thing I've learned is.Don't expect everyone to be a certain way,and don't give too much though to stereotypes.Live your life without worrying so much what other's have to say.
I can't understand how people will MEET certain people and expect others from that certain place to be just alike.Everyone is different in their one way regardless where they come from. So,let's all just exclude ourselves from stereotypes and just get to know each other as an individual.

The End
