Am I the only person that finds it odd that someone would make an ARCH bridge where the arch is made out of steel?

The arch in an arch bridge is always under compression, and steel is not that great under compression. I think a small layer of steel reinforced concrete under the steel arches would have made that bridge last forever. There are stone arches that were built over 1000 years ago still standing, but thats because stone and concrete are great under compression. Steel arches are pretty much worthless and give you a false sense of security.

Anyone else feel this way?

My hair used to be pitch black but now it is more like the medium golden brown shown here:

I am due to have a baby this month and would normally dye all my hair black but I heard it's dangerous for the baby if dye gets on your skin, so I want to get some highlights to freshen my look and cover my gray hairs I've been getting since I was 17. I'm not afraid of color, just want it to look good.

I don't really know the exact difference between to the two, but have always called mine green. So maybe YOU can tell me which it is. The picture might not be the best because I am next to a window but try your best... so please give an answer and explain what makes them green or hazel.

I just started "running"/"training" for my very first 5K ever this past monday. I am wondering if anyone has some tips for me. I'm a slow runner and have never done this in my life so its all new to me. I got a pair of running shoes that fit well but could use an advice or instruction more seasoned runners may have for me. My first 5K is in 6 weeks.

My older sister shes 3 years older then me. (16) Shes criticle of evrey thing on me. She says I'm fat wich not (I don't think I am, just a little bit of a roll on my stmoach (don't alot of people?) Shes criticle of my hair and the color wich is a light blonde. Shes mean about the way I dress and who I am friends with, Like she would say I don't want you seeing her anymore she will give you a disses. (shes not gross or dosn't do drugs just a normal person) and like say if I was doing somthin new (like meeting a new person) she would make me let her pick out my clothes or she would get pissed off. (and I chose my clothes fine). She really hurts my feelings I have told her to please stop treating me like this and she would say somthing like, Oh god grow up I'm not like that. My mom as told her to be nicer but she bascialy says the same thing she says to me. What should I do?

i'm a big fan of old weaponry, mostly swords and i play a game called 'dagorhir' , a bit of a 'do it yourself' full contact reenactment sport. i know a bit about swords but one thing always kind of made me wonder.

most cultures at some point had swords as their 'weapon of choice' along side spears but designs greatly varied, from the scotish claymore, the celtic broad/arm sword, the hispanic gladius adopted by the romans etc all had straight blades of varying thicknesses , while swords like falchions and cutlasses, along with the khukris (spelling's probably off) and 'to a lesser extent katanas from asia had curves to them.

my question is what kind of advantage would a blade curved similarly to a scimitar have against a straight sword like a classic european long sword and vice versa?
