I can step on a sticker or thorn without it hurting, stepping on a bramble vine and stepping off again I don't even really consciously notice... but if a thorn breaks lose, sticks in my foot and I keep walking on it for several steps, I am aware of it as a tiny bit of a prick, yes... fortunately having tough feet does not mean losing all sensation, that would be dangerous, because just like with a diabetes patient things could get stuck in the foot and cause an infection.

If I feel something gets stuck in my soles and doesn't dislodge in a few steps, I pick or flick it off. Because the skin is so leathery, it's usually stuck in there only partially and very easy to remove, takes just a second and no need to sit down. It's quite rare for something to become lodged *under* the skin unless I ignore the 'cling-on' and keep walking on it, then it'll go deeper and the part sticking out will break & wear off, and it's harder to remove then.

if you have very tough feet of course you can get a sticker in your foot and have it not hurt. Inspect your foot carefully and make sure you remove the sticker.
