It's been fairly obvious to me that a lot of people have "found" religion after a particular lowpoint in their life and they want to "go straight".
A post that was made recently (a couple questions below this one) preyed on that thesis that when your down and out, and others have betrayed you, and you have no friends, god is always there.
Now, maybe I'm wrong, but by and large, the people I know are basically good hearted, and for anyone one of them to be completely down and out with no friends, would mean they have done something unforgivable in peoples eyes.
It seems that at this point, religion steps in and says "doesn't matter how low you stooped, we'll welcome you".
Does this mean that there is a fair proportion of Christians that have perpetrated more heinous crimes in their "pre-religious" state than most of us atheist "sinners" will commit in our life?
If so, how can god justify allowing them into heaven when they have caused more pain than atheists
