Why would you want to rain on our little parade?

It's not like being a non-christian is a picnic or anything, what with being filled with hate and rage and the lust for sin.

And then there is knowing we're going to hell. You think that's an easy burden to bear day in and day out?

So if we can find the energy and time to do something other than cursing our very existence, shouldn't we be permitted a short respite where we can sit back, relax, and enjoy the benefits of being hell-bound?

It's not like we rain on your parade ... much.

Not that I agree with the atheists, but if I present a dichotomy and get nothing but a beg-the-question response from the Christian, well, "there is no God" does answer the question from a logical point of view, and if they have a valid point, ok, best answer.

I don't mind challenges and reason. No, I don't just "believe what I want" -- I question myself, and yes, I'm still a Christian.

If you are burdened with the thought of going to hell, Orion, that God is convicting you. You yourself know what is right and wrong, and all God wants is for us to strive to do right, and believe on Him and His promise of everlasting life. Why do you want pain and torment over something as wonderful as Heaven? I guess I don't understand, and by the way, non-christians do rain on our parde very much. When someone comes on here asking questions that they would like input on from their Christian brothers and sisters, non-christians, atheists and those that want nothing to do with God end up answering and doing everything in their power to make us feel stupid and ridiculed. So, how was it that non-christians don't rain on our parade much?

I think you miss the entire point completely. You're not even in the same ballpark. You're not even playing the same game.

Let me try to clear up a few things by way of illustration.

If YOU saw someone's house ablaze, and you didn't do anything at all to try to rescue those in the house, or at least contact someone who CAN, what kind of person does that make you out to be?

We, as Christians, believe what Jesus said about sin, death and the grave. We take it seriously when He described weeping and gnashing of teeth, outer darkness, flames that are never quenched. We see people blindly heading towards a cliff without even realizing the danger. If we didn't at leat make SOME kind of an attempt to rescue the "perishing", what kind of hideous monsters would that make us out to be?

Christians are NOT better than others. We are ALL sinners. The Bible says that ALL have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. It also says that the wages of sin is death - hell.

But it ALSO says, "For God so loved this world, that He (freely) gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, and relies on) Him (Jesus) would NOT perish (in hell), but have everlasting life (in heaven). When God sent His Son into the world, it was not to condemn it, but to save it. Whoever believes in the Son of God will NOT perish, but whoever does NOT believe in the Son of God is condemned already (because of their sins)." (I added the words in parenthesis to help clarify where the English doesn't fully satisfy the full meaning of the original Greek.)

The point is, that because you HAVE broken God's Laws (lie, cheat, etc), that you are already condemned to hell, but God is offering a way out - acknowledging we have sinned, asking God to forgive us, and repenting, or turning away from, our sins (crimes against God), allows God to use the death of Jesus on the cross to pay the penalty for OUR sins, so He could forgive us, cleanse us from our unrighteousness, change us, and reconcile us to a loving God, who will then adopt us into His forever family.

Try to see these things from God's perspective, and you'll understand just how much God loves you.

If you know you're sinning, why don't you try turning your life over to God and asking Him to help you? And if you don't like hearing about God and salvation, why are you here in R&S? I've seen many Atheists say they that since they don't believe in God, they don't have a religion (their words, not mine). It seems to me that non-believers keep coming in here because of a genuine interest in God; since it would be so easy to avoid. Just curious.
