...at Stop sign? ...at a traffic light?
I just received my second warning (no tickets... yet) for "rolling through a stop sign" and "failure to come to a complete stop".
Both times I did so when no oncoming traffic was even close. I slowed to a crawl and checked all directions carefully before continuing through the intersection or continuing my right hand turn.
I don't know about you, but I find it inconvenient to stop fully, take my feet off the pegs, plant, and then take off again from a dead stop.
Obviously, when I see traffic approaching I have no problem coming to a complete stop and waiting it out. But when nothing is near??? Come on. I for one, just roll on the throttle and take off (having slowed enough to require first gear).
Is it a bad habit? Or a just a bored cop?

I have the same bad habit. Everyone in my town does it because there are many intersections at steep inclines and if you stop you may not get going again very easy. I have done it in my car right in front of a patrolman and they didn't even care. It's a bad habit and that I'm going to have to break when I move from here.

it's not a bad habit, as long as u are sure that there is no on coming traffic. if a stop sign does not have the "all way" sign underneath, i am always more careful, but if it is stop all way, then u can afford to be a little leniant.
the cop simply wants your money, they don't ticket u because u are not being safe, u are being ticketed because they want your money. if u see a cop, just do a complete stop.

Bad habit.
The cars that run us over in intersections say they didn't see anyone. And the right turn? The law says AFTER STOP. The cars don't follow that one either. There's a list of pet peeves around here somewhere. The original question was about cages, but.................. what's good for the goose is good for the gander, and all that. How do we complain about all the wrongs if we are wrong as well?
Don't wanna jump down your throat, I've come to like you.
But then again, you asked.

Practice coming to a complete stop at every stop sign and look both ways several times.Rolling stop is not a bad habit its a deadly one because the day will come when you check too quickly and get nailed .Use some real discipline here so you can make it another 100 thousand miles or so.

Inconvenient to stop? Is that extra 3 seconds really going to ruin your day? Laws aren't meant to be enforced just when it is convenient to you. The cop pulled you over so hopefully you will stop when you don't notice that little kid running in the street. It only takes one time for you to be too impatient and get into an accident. Just about every accident ends with someone saying "I didn't see him". Hopefully that "him" isn't some young pedestrian that "got in your way".

bad habit...
I ride a sport bike and can balance it for 3-4 seconds at a complete stop necessary for a full stop.....
but when you do this, the cops think your doing the slow and go.....
quit being lazy and put your feet down.... if you don't want to make the effort... buy a car.

I tap my foot on the ground and pretend I stopped long enough.
You have to keep in mind that tickets generate revenue for your city and the cops are encouraged to write tickets for that reason.
That is why you will (or will not) see them hiding in bushes and alleys, $$$$$ for the city.
Stop, or accept the consequences, but don't expect the cops to pass up an opportunity to cite you very often.

The time has come for me to stop worrying about the environment. Here's why. Yesterday I WALKED to the shop to buy a can of diced tomatos. On the way, I picked up someones rubbish can that had been knocked over and put all the rubbish back in. Then I had to find somewhere to wash my hands. When I got to the shop I had a choice of a THOUSAND different brands and sizes of canned diced tomatos. I had to read the label on all of them. I had to know where they were made, ( I wanted Australian tomatos), I had to know where the can was made and if it was recyclable. 2 hours later I arrived home with my can of tomatos. I ONLY WANTED A CAN OF TOMATOS FOR PETE'S SAKE!!! I've had enough of caring for the planet, the environment, Australian jobs and the local landscape.......I ONLY WANTED A CAN OF TOMATOS!!!!

It's called California stopping, or the California roll and it's a very bad habit, especially on a bike. Cops will nail you for it every time.
