The tribal wisdom of the Dakota Indians, passed on from generation to generation, says that, "When you discover that you are riding a dead horse, the best strategy is to dismount."

However, in government, education and in corporate America, more advanced strategies are often employed in such situations, such as:

1. Buying a stronger whip.

2. Changing riders.

3. Appointing a committee to study the horse.

4. Visiting other countries to see how other cultures ride dead horses.

5. Lowering the standards so that dead horses can be included.

6. Reclassifying the dead horse as "living-impaired."

7. Hiring outside contractors to ride the dead horse.

8. Harnessing several dead horses together to increase speed.

9. Providing additional funding and/or training to increase the dead horse's performance.

10. Doing a productivity study to see if lighter riders would improve the dead horse's performance.

11. Declaring that as the dead horse does not have to be fed, it is less costly, carries lower overhead, and therefore contributes substantially more to the bottom line of the economy than do some other horses.

12. Rewriting the expected performance requirements for all horses.

And of course . . .

13. Promoting the dead horse to a supervisory position.

If I mixed 1 cup or either puffed rice, wheat, or corn cereal (the nautral kind, not the sugar coated stuff) with 1/2-1 cup of vanilla soymilk? Then possibly added like 1/2 a banana or 1/2 a cup of fruit just to add some more flavor? And then I kind of blended it all up. I was hoping maybe it would come out to like an oatmeal-ly porridge consistancy. Do you guys think it would taste good and work?

The washer is the only machine using that outlet. The problem only started last week and I've had previous machines using that outlet before so I doubt it is an electric problem...could the washer's motor or wiring be faulty?

Please don't answer with some smart answer about not getting a tattoo at all; you are entitled to your opinion, but they don't belong here!

I have a tattoo on my lower back and want to get another one either on my inner leg towards my ankle, on the back of my neck or on my upper arm. I want a smaller tattoo on one these spots so it is visible if I want it to be, but not right out there if I want to hide it.

If I do the neck I will probably get a calla lily, if I do the leg I will probably get a fairy/angel with a calla lily, if I do the arm I will probably do a tribal band with calla lillies (which will match my back tattoo).

Which would you recommend as far as looks and/or less pain and/or less money? Open to opinions and suggestions as long as it pertains to actually getting the tattoo.

Thanks!!!

Im Anti+ Gerry .....He gets a special + because I hate him even more because he's made even more of an a**e about himself than Kate. Don't get me wrong, Kate should be given time to think about her actions in a prison cell overlooking the Algarve, but Gerry with his smarmy, holier than thou, butter wouldnt melt in his mouth attitude ........... yeah a bit of time in the cooler sharing a cell with a guy called Bubba ought to help bring about a little bit of justice ........

(hows that for some vitriol? LOL)

I'm sorry, but the "live & let live" attitude really bugs me.

It's only because of people who have risen above this that so called "Intelligent Design" is NOT being taught in schools as a substitute to evolution, or at least I hope it's not.

Fundamentalists use people's "live & let live" cop out as an opportunity to get in their and evangelise to those who are vulnerable.

They thrive on it!

Fundamentalists lobby governments and business groups while others pretend nothing's happening.

Unless EVERYONE takes a strong stand on what they believe in, these guys will always end up with more influence than they deserve.

Why are so many prepared to let the fundamentalists stake a claim to representing their beliefs?

I'm always surprised how fast food places vary. When I travel I see places that I've never even heard of.

We have:

McDonald's
Burger King
Wendy's
Arby's
Taco Bell
Subway
KFC
Quizno's

Do you have those where you live? What else do you have? I live in Western Connecticut by the way :)

We only tried one night, and it was awful. He kept getting out and we'd put him back in- it was like a game to him. WE did the normal routine- a bath, read stories, music... He just kept getting out, he thought it was great having that freedom. We tried staying in the room with him and watching him and making him get back into bed. We stayed up until like 2 am doing this, and we just put the front railing back on the crib.

He's ready for potty training, and I really need him to be able to get out of his bed on his own to go potty, because he wakes, takes off his diaper and pees all over his bed.

My soon to be husband and I have decided to invite all of our friends and family out to dinner to celebrate our engagement. We are working on a very limited budget, but we still want our family and friends included in our new beginning. We want to send invitations with the expectation that guests will be paying for their own meals. Is this in poor taste?
We'd put a $, $$ or $$$ sign on the invitation to indicate the price range the guests should be prepared for...
