There is a legal process called, "reciprocity" by which, one state recognizes the laws and legal processes of another state. Usually, states that border one and another, honor each others laws regarding minor traffic offenses. Check with any law enforcement agency in your state to see if Florida and Ohio have such an agreement. For instance, Ohio,( which is a real legal SLIME PIT,) has no such agreement with MY home state of Wisconsin. Unless there is a state felony charge, or Federal felony charge, Wisconsin in effect, tells Ohio to "go get BIT"! Points charged by Ohio are not charged against a Wisconsin license. I am not sure if Florida and Ohio have such an agreement. Again, if it is a felony charge, you could be returned to Ohio to answer charges.

I had the opposite happen. Got a ticket in Florida with an Ohio drivers license. No points were registered on my license. No matter what happens, pay the ticket or go to court. If you don't, and get stopped in Florida, you will have an outstanding ticket and possibly warrant. You will be in the computer in every State.

We live in CA and my hubby got a ticket in Utah and he got points on his drivers license in CA ...

If you go to court and explain and they will either reduce the points or waive it ... My friend got reduced cuz she told them she doesn't have a job and is unable to pay the high fee and they lowered the fee and the points

Contact the court of juristiction, listed on your ticket, ask to pay the waiver if you don't or can't appear, then ask the clerk, they will tell you over the phone.
