I inherited a rather large Victorian style house. It is in desperate need of maintenance such as roofing, trim repair and painting, asbestos remediation, wiring and plumbing. I've called just about every contractor in the phone book or in the local trades. Most of them don't even return my calls, and the ones I am able to reach directly are either too busy, don't service my area or don't do residential work (I wish they would say that in their ads). I also tried Service Magic, but the few that did respond to my inquiries gave very high estimates - like one that wanted $18,000 to do one area of the roof. I think $1,800 would be a lot for one dormer! Like I sais, some things need immediate attention. What is a good way to get a reliable contractor?

I have used all major oil brands (Mobil, Pennzoil, Quaker State, etc.), last one being Shell, and even up until 3k oil change, the oil isn't all that darker than when I put it in. I've got 121,000 miles. Is this normal?

My cousin is a captain, 29 yrs, in the army and to be honest, he's extremely childish. I wanted to get him professional help but he doesn't want to. He' extremely cocky but when confronted he gets really nervous and then, like a kid, bad mouths almost like as if her were to throw a tantrum. The reason I want to get him prof. help is because he's obsessed with guns and he's very temperamental. Do you think that his personality is a threat? Does his extreme childishness cause for the sudden weapons obsession (he even unregistered guns! brought back from Irak)?

Hi, I am dating a fantastic man (finally!) who really truly loves me and has proven to me that he does. but i think he may have a problem with porn. When i found pictures on his computer he got rid of them for me.Then, I found more while i was searching for something totally un-related. We fought again, bad this time, and he said it wouldnt happen again. He said he used it every once and while when we werent together (we see each other about 3 times a week, and have a great sex life). Now, i found another website, and he said, honestly, he uses it every single day that we are not together. Sometimes for over an hour a time. He says it is habit from years of doing it when he was single and he cant shake it. I asked him why, isnt he satisfied? and all he does is bow his head in shame and say "i dont know". Is this a genuine problem? should l leave or not? I'm starting to feel like nothing but a means to an end & disgusted by him. He is willing to stop but when do i draw the line? Thanks

So we all know laptops and computers in general do not last forever. They either crash beyond repair, get severly damaged to the extent where it will be cheaper to buy a new computer or the software just becomes so old and obsolete it feels like you are living in the stone age.
So my question is how long does it take this to happen to a macbook (i have the black one by the way)
I just got it, and I will be using it in september at university so I will be using it like 6 days a week and I will be carrying it around with me. Now im not very carful with computers but at the same time im not throwing it around. Most laptops will last 3-4 years, how long do macbooks usually last until a new one is needed?

I, like several people who are fans of My Chemical Romance, credit them for saving my life or having a big part because of the great feeling and release I get from their music, videos, and the two times I saw them. But after, I am finding it hard to take steps to change what's negative in my life. I am a single parent of 2 kids and my elderly mother lives with me. I have no finances to spare on things that could be helpful. With little time and less organization I find it hard to associate with others or find things to do that I could myself that may help. After reading some of the comments people wrote how MCR helped them, I think everyone else must have been able to turn themselves around. I have been motivated before and felt better for a while, but am always seem to be in the rutt & unable to improve my life. I even feel guilty and undeserving of being one of their many fans because I can't better my situation after their inspiration. Honest, clean, & polite tips please.

Hi, I became I stopped eating meat, eggs, fish to detox my body so I could get rid of my acne. That has certainly helped! But, I also lost 10 pounds in the process and I need to gain muscle bc Im in competitive sports. What other sources of protein besides soy, beans, protein shake can i get my protein or gain my muscle? Please help, seasons starts in a few months! Much clearer face, but need the muscle!

Ok there is this girl that also attends my school. She hates and calls me using private. I tell her to stop, I've talked to the principle, and she still won't stop! Then at school she acts like it never happens and pretends to be my friend and all. Also she sometimes calls me and also pretends it never happens. My wife and I are going to have a second wedding for friends and family members; however I have a brother that is a homosexual. Personally I believe he is misguided as he is very young and our father (whom did not raise me) has not given him the guidance in learning how to become a man. Anyway, my wife and I have children and like all children it can be easy to give them an impression. My wife and I raise our children in the Church. I have asked that if my brother does accept our invitation that he comes in with respect and as the man he is to be. It's not a matter of hurting his feelings and their are a lot of things that people feel is right - even though they know it's wrong, i.e. rape, murder, incest and so forth. So hurting his feeling is only not accepting the truth. My question is for those who share the same beliefs how have you dealed with homosexual family members?
