So we all know laptops and computers in general do not last forever. They either crash beyond repair, get severly damaged to the extent where it will be cheaper to buy a new computer or the software just becomes so old and obsolete it feels like you are living in the stone age.
So my question is how long does it take this to happen to a macbook (i have the black one by the way)
I just got it, and I will be using it in september at university so I will be using it like 6 days a week and I will be carrying it around with me. Now im not very carful with computers but at the same time im not throwing it around. Most laptops will last 3-4 years, how long do macbooks usually last until a new one is needed?

It will last as long as you take care of it.

I suggest always powering off your laptop when you transport it, to avoid damage from being dropped, banged, etc. Many laptops claim to have sensors that protect the machine from jarring damage, but I won't bet all my hard drive data on their claims.

My G4 PowerBook is entering it's fourth year, and showing no signs of slowing down.

The software updater on every mac will always ask you if you want the latest version of your software, and as for durability, I have only seen one macbook go bad, and it has been cracked from dropping, but macs do not crash or get viruses ever. I love my mac, but I am not very careful with it. Still, it preforms like it was new. Besides, if you have an intel mac, you will probably not slow down for a long time.
