of proportionality in retribution?
Even assuming that you forget about the Golden Rule for a moment and instead assume that the "eye for an eye" code is the more valid Christian precept of retribution, hasn't the Bush administration violated even THAT principle?
The Bush administration's decision to invade Iraq has directly led to the deaths of at least 100,000 innocent Iraqis from cluster bombs, uranium shells, etc., according to the most conservative estimates. And these Iraqis had nothing to do with either 911 or Saddam's regime.
So if only roughly 3,000 Americans died on 911 and more than 100,000 innocent Iraqis have died due to Bush deciding to invade, doesn't that violate every conceivable Christian precept of proportionality in retribution for wrongs?
Isn't that saying that an American life is worth more than an Iraqi life? Doesn't that violate every Christian precept that all of God's creatures are equal in his eyes?
