I'm wondering if dating him would be a good idea since I think he might still be able to access my IRS returns and invade my privacy... Does anyone know someone who's worked for the IRS, or do you know if it would still be possible for him to access my records? Thanks, I appreciate any help on this topic.

It's very unlikely that he would be able to, unless someone still working for the IRS does it for him.

Even current IRS employees can be fired if they're caught accessing accounts not required for their jobs.

I would say that your man is probably not allowed to look you up. It's an invasion of privacy. If he doesn't work there anymore, he shouldn't be able to access your records.
Another thing, and I know you probably don't want to hear this, but if you're worried about him invading your privacy to that extent and you just started dating, i would break things off.

It WAS his job, nothing more.
Example: You used to be a nurse. Should he worry about you finding and changing his medical records ?
You're dating the guy , not planning a billion dollar merger.
It also make me think you've been a little less than honest in your tax filings.

No, he should not be able to access any of your return information.
