rule of thumb is if the baby can sit up on their own then you don't have to burp them anymore.
Babies always burp better in the sitting position, whether they do it on their own or with your help.

I've never heard of an average on that one. Good question though. My first started burping on his own around 4mos. and my second baby(who was much slower and clingy) didn't start on his own until around 6mos. Very diverse I'm sure as it depends on the development of baby., and we all know there are no two alike! Basically, look for signs that your baby might be ready to let you off the burping hook: If she seems squirmy, or fussy, or spits up after feedings, then you need to keep burping her. When she fares just fine after a feeding w/no help from you, then she's getting there! But it's gradual... she might burp on her own a couple times, and she might still need moms help sometimes, so watch her cues. Good luck

My son started to burp on his own when he was only 1 week old. He still does it but i still pat his back so he wont spit up. Most babies start to burp on their own between 6-9 months.

when a baby gets mobile- creeping/crawling or walking she will usually burp coz of the flexing of the stomach muscles. but your baby is not yet too active so she needs your help. the greatest reason to make sure she has burped would be to avoid her spitting up when she burps in her sleep coz it can choke her.

It's situational really. Some babies are able to do it themselves sooner than others just like anything else. Just watch her closely and see if she does it on her own after she eats. Give her about a minute, and if nothing comes out, you should probably burp her.

it all depends on how developed their digestive tract is. my son is almost 4 wks old and when im feeding him, most of the time i just sit him up and a big burp comes out on its own, so they're all different. he'll often bup himself after meals as well, just be sitting in hbis swing and a burp pops out of nowhere

why should u be concerned if ur baby burps herself!
if she burps within 5-10 mins, its fine, otherwise help her out.
girls generally hit such milestones of growth faster than boys. take care , bye.

put her on her stomach and she always will! you won't even have to hold her, put on the ground on her belly and burps will come out. its when they are face up that it will come but it will be spit up cuz they don't know how to do it that way.
