A man is driving down a deserted stretch of highway, when he notices a sign out of the corner of his eye. It says Sisters of Mercy House of Prostitution 10 Miles. He thinks it was just a figment of his imagination and drives on without a second thought. Soon, he sees another sign which says Sisters of Mercy House of Prostitution 5 Miles and realizes that these signs are for real. When he drives past a third sign saying Sisters of Mercy House of Prostitution Next Right, his curiosity gets the best of him and he pulls into the drive.

On the far side of the parking lot is a somber stone building with a small sign next to the door reading SISTERS OF MERCY. He climbs the steps and rings the bell. The door is answered by a nun in a long black habit who asks "What may we do for you, my son?" He answers "I saw your signs along the highway, and was interested in possibly doing business."

"Very well, my son. Please follow me." He is led through many winding passages and is soon quite disoriented. The nun stops at a closed door, and tells the man "Please knock on this door." He does as he is told and this door is answered by another nun in a long habit and holding a tin cup. This nun instructs "Please place $50 in the cup, then go through the large wooden door at the end of this hallway." He gets $50 out of his wallet and places it in the second nun's cup.

He trots eagerly down the hall and slips through the door, pulling it shut behind him. As the door locks behind him, he finds himself back in the parking lot, facing another small sign:

Go in Peace, You Have Just Been Screwed by the Sisters of Mercy.

Now I'm up at night my ears are always open, the lights always on, and I constantly need to be around anouther human being. I'm just tired of beeing scared. Any suggestions?

God (christian variety) created Adam and Eve so that they could live eternal bliss in that paradise called Eden, right? Or did he set us up? I find it troubling that an all powerful, all knowing, all loving god would not know that the serpent he placed on earth with Adam and Eve would talk Eve into eating an apple.
Further, I find it even more troubling that such a god would put such an apple on earth within reach of Adam and Eve. Sure, he said not to eat it, but if I'm not mistaken, Adam and Eve were brand new people. This means that they had the self control and moral compass of a 12 month old child. For those who have children, you know how hard it is to keep kids away from getting into things you tell them not to touch, especially if it's easily accessible.
If god designed people, and had a divine plan when he created them, then his plan had to include roasting humans in eternal fire. Why would he set us up this way? Why would he intentionally put us on earth with satan

i'm going to take photojournalism with a 35mm SLR. But being someone who's too used to digital photography, 35 mm SLR camera seems challenging, but it's a whole new world to me. I'm someone who's very interested in lomography and i often hear the brand 'Zenit' around. Thus i'm hesitating if i should get a Nikon/Canon...etc camera and invest in a Zenit camera instead. Is it a good SLR camera? Please recommend 35mm SLR cameras to me!

Here's my situation: I'm about to sell my POS Saturn SL2 with 140K miles. Can't afford to have a car that is about to die - reliability is a huge concern for me.

I'd like to spend about $20,000 at most because that's what I can afford. I'm not worried about a new car. Because of my good relationship with a mechanic, I'm only interested in cars he specializes in, so I'll only consider Hondas, Toyotas, Acuras, Lexuses, Nissans, and Infinitis.

I'd like to get the best car for the money and I'm not worried about the car being new. I want the best car for the money whether it has 10,000 or 100,000 miles on it. If it makes more sense to pay less, I prefer to.

I realize there can be a million responses to this but I just want a general poll with some suggestions. Most guides will either focus on buying used and saving the most money possible, or buying new and getting the best car possible. I want to buy used not necessarily to be cheap but to have a better car.

How do I make her understand that she can do A LOT more with a Harvard degree than with a BC, Brown or Tufts degree? Those schools have great programs in humanitarian work, and I admire her for wanting to go there so she can make the world a better place, but wouldn't a Harvard degree open more doors for her to make the difference she is searching for??

to say that you truly understand the bible and the word of god, yet the only explanation you can give for why god does the many unexplainable things that occur in the world is something to the effect of, "only god knows." if you truly understand god, shouldn't you be able to explain his reasoning?
