My hard drive crashed and I was told that if I froze it, that may help me be able to get some files off of it. I froze it in a bag for 12hrs and then this is what I did(all in about a half an hour): I set my new drive to Master and my old drive to Slave with the jumpers, then I booted up the computer, went under Device Manager, then I clicked on search for new hardware. My old drive showed up on that page. So I clicked on it and Properties came up, then I clicked on the Volume tab, then the Populate button. The information that came up was 0mb all down the line and the status line said unreadable.
I just want to make sure that this information is telling me that the drive is dead, and that there is no other way to get the info outside of having a pro do it. I'm guessing the computer recognized the drive enough to give the ID of it, but it is truly unreadable so it couldn't do anything further????
