there was a question several days ago asking people how much they spend on their kids, and the average answer was inexcess of 800-1000usd per child. that is about 500-650 Uk pounds.
personally, i buy things for my daughter through out the year, which i am sure most people do for their kids, and this christmas will not be spending more than 50 pounds. if i had alot of money perhaps i would spend more buying a one off expensive present. but the impression i get is that these kids will be getting ALOT of toys as well as clothes which are probably more expensive than they need to be.
so my question is really... why do parents feel it is necessary to spend so much money? what kind of lesson does it teach their kids apart from glutany? if parents are giving to their kids through out the year, why should suddenly at christmas do they go over board, surely the giving should be proportional through out the year? is this spending more to do with the parents than it is to do with the kids?

I ask only because I was told recently by a Chrisitan that Jesus (PBUH) died for ALL sinners, & I quote: "Even Islamic sinners".
In that case, I have two questions:
1) Does NOT believing Jesus (PBUH) died for my sins make me a sinner?
2) If the answer to that is yes, then surely according to the Christian teachings, that still guarantees me a place in heaven as you claim Jesus died for the sins of mankind?
BTW I'm asking to make people think a little

my wife is a dear sweet woman but she is lazy how can I make her more active? she sleeps more than 7 hours every night and only gets up right at the last minute to get the kids ready for school
she refuses to cook what I like to eat and only shaves her legs when she goes out with her lesbian friends
my mother used to get up at 5am every morning and make everyone happy and she was happy too
my wife is three months pregnant but I think that is no excuse because my mother worked until she was full term
sometimes I want to hit her with a closed fist but im a good husband and I love her I just wish she wasnt so lazy

My boyfriend and I had really bad argument one night..Things got really bad at home... Name callin etc. But then he spit in my face and tried to hit at me, until I blocked it. Well I called police because he said some stuff he shouldnt of to me. That scared me.. Well not knowing he had a warrant, he went to jail for the warrant and he was charged with DV. They put a 2 year no contact order on him.. Do I say I am sorry for being the one that put him in there or do I just let him sit in there? I am having mixed feelings about this.. He's been so good to me in the past, what might have happened??? Any opinions??

My husband is getting on my nerves like you wouldn't believe - over Christmas presents.

Christmas for me is a time of wonder, a time for family being together, a time to eat good food, and have a bit of chocolate. It's a time to relax, enjoy the pretty lights and the christmas carols.

I really cannot be bothered with what I get for presents. There is nothing I want or need, but am always really grateful for whatever I am given. I have no pre-conceptions about what I will be receiving - it's not about the gifts for me. Having said that I always try to buy nice things for my husband and step-son, because they put more interest in the gifts.

As Christmas rolls into view - the only question I am asked several times a day is 'What do you want for Christmas?'. I keep saying 'I really don't care what you get me - I am happy for anything'. But that's not enough - my husband harps on about it and it's really getting on my nerves!!

It's ruining the wonder of Christmas for me!

My husband goes through these phases that last a couple of months at a time where no matter what I say, he snaps at me. Then for a couple of months I'm the "greatest wife in the world". Today while running erands together we needed to make a left U-turn on a packed road at rush hour. The left turn lane was way backed up. I pointed to the right hand turn lane,which was empty, and at a light for easy turning and said "why don't you turn right and then come back through the light?" He snapped back "because the lane is all backed up, SWEETHART!" I took a little breath and replied that I knew the LEFT lane was backed up, that's why I told you to turn RIGHT and then easily come back through the light. He does this constantly. I'm at the point where I am either going to quit talking altogether or get snappy back. I'm afraid to go into ***** mode as there may be no return! Does this happen to anyone else? How do you handle it without becoming a crappy person, too?
