And only mediocore in Cup. Mark is my favorite driver but, I can't understand why he doesn't win as much in Cup.

Mark Martin is awesome in anything he drives Cup,Busch,Trucks or IROC. I don't think Jack Roush was giving any of his teams the equipment needed to win this year. How can only 2 of the 5 best drivers out there only make the chase? You mean to tell me the Carl Edwards just mysteriously stops winning on his own? I don't think so Scooter!

Much of that has to do with the quality of equipment. Mark Martin drives in the Busch Series and Truck Series with teams that are much better than most of the field. In the Cup Series, the equipment of the competitors is closer to one another making winning more of a premium. I'm not sure that I would say that Mark Martin is only mediocre. He just hasn't been fortunate enough to seal the championship. He has more wins than a lot of drivers, especially those on the circuit today.

Mark is a good all around driver. The Busch and truck events are shorter so the physical work is less but just as demanding.
In cup more of the teams are closer with their equipment and even share some of the technology,so the level of competition is closer. Also a lot of the younger drivers con handle these cars better sooner.

Mark Martin mediocore. I don't think so, but that is my opinion.

Why is he so good in truch and Busch? I think because the pressure is less. He can race. He can get up on that wheel and drive. In Nextel cup the concern is for the team not the driver. If you are number one--forget it. Your job is to help number one win.

I wouldn't say his Cup career has been just mediocre but it does make you wonder if he is more comfortable driving in Busch and Craftsman Truck. Or if he likes the handling of those vehicles better. He's been my favorite driver for 12 or 13 years and I definitely would have thought that he would have a championship or two in Nextel Cup racing.

Busch competition is more even because equiptment is more even from team to team. That is to say the cars are more evenly set so it is more driver than in Cup, where cars can have more manufacturing differences and it is more dependant on the better construction of the cars than just driving ability.

mark said in an interview when asked this same question and i quote""well you know i think it them underpowerd cars the winner is the guy who can keep them wound up the most and im a master at it""unquote guess that spells it out..when you get on the busch cars and the trucks are similar they dont want to break loose as bad as the cup cars..so you stay in the gas more..and he's the master..hope he scores a truck ride
