We are going to be at a conference in mid November and are staying at the Hilton San Fran on O'Farrell Street. On a Sat night, we need to transport about 15-20 people from the Hilton to Caffe Macaroni in Little Italy - and back. What would be the best way of doing this - cheapest and most convenient? Taxis? Street/Cable cars? Is walking an option - we will have a bunch of girls in heels - and assuming it will be cold so thinking this isn't a good method. Thank you!

I'm debating on taking Bart to the Hanna Montana concert so I don't have to bother with driving in traffic and deal with parking but I am concerned with how far away the walk is and how well the lighting is around the walking area.I'm taking my 5 year old keep in mind and I know Oakland has a serious crime rate.Do they have extra security on the streets for these kind of events?

I just felt the 5.6 --5.8 earthquake.
The earthquake I just experienced recently was terribley short, but deadly-like.

1. How can you get the earthquake experience out of your mind???

2. When will the next big earthquake happen? (I know no one can predict 100%, but how can you tell???)

Around 8:10pm. It wasn't big, but it's the largest one I've felt since I was a little kid. Things were actually rattling. It was kinda fun!

I'm going to fly down there the end of next month..and Jetblue offers flights going to either airport.

I've taken the shuttle to the BART station from Oakland into the city. It took a while, but it was pretty easy. I've also taken Super Shuttle from SFO into the city..costs a little more, and I forgot how much time it took. The BART isn't as accessible from SFO as it is from OAK, right?

Which airport should I fly to?

Legitimate answers only, please. Thanks!

I'm from the Bay Area and I know that "Frisco" is supposedly an insult when referring to SF, but WHY?? No one has ever explained it but just says "don't call it Frisco". What is the reason people don't like the term "Frisco"? What is the big deal? San Francisco is a long name and Frisco just makes it easier to say. So could someone please explain to me how this became an insult?

Also what do people have against the term Cali? I don't really use it but I've seen some people on Y! Answers say it's insulting and people here don't use it, even though I've seen some native Californian's use it too.

Does anyone have any ideas where the 1905 herschell-spillman carousel is now located ?It used to be located inside the Edgewater Packing company restaraunt-family fun center in Monterey at Cannery Row in Monterey,California. I just received my Fastrak inside sensor. It will only be used a few times a year. So, my question is "Will the device work if placed on my dash when I approach the toll booths"? I don't want to mount it to the windshield nor the lower dash via velcro but keep it in my glove box until needed.

My mother is flying to San Fran. To go sailing with an old friend. She has never been sailing nor has she ever been to Cal. She will be there next week and is unsure what to pack. They will be going to some nice places to eat...so if you could suggest what she might need based on temps and sailing that would be GREAT! Thanks!!!
