I am considering moving to the USA, and have visited many times, NY, Vegas, Reno, California, LA, San Francisco, etc and love the country and the people.

just wanted to know what actual americans thought was the best things about the country, first hand from the people that live there?

in terms of education, lifestyle, taxes, style, standard of living, leisure, anything you think would further attract someone..

many thanks for your input

I'd like to take my family to the Gatlinburg area during the week of Thanksgiving, as this is the only time the kids are out of school long enough to travel. This is pretty spur of the moment and I haven't made any hotel reservations. Will I have problems finding a room in the area? I'll accept a room in Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Cherokee, even Sevierville if necessary. Does the Smokies area generally have large crowds during Thanksgiving?

Not a question just a little thank you! Me and my Husband stayed in Wayne, New Jersey last week on a family holiday (we are from England) and visited Manhattan every day.

We absolutely loved it there and was amazed how friendly you lot where - especially the locals from Wayne who really made an effort to get to know us!

What a lovely bunch of people you are and we hope to visit soon x

My husband, 3 and 1 year old and I would like to drive somewhere for Thanksgiving weekend since he has 4 days off. I am thinking of southern California, but don't know how crowded the theme parks are or what else there is to do that isn't too crowded. Are there any deals in California that's less then 6 hours from Las Vegas?

We would like to visit Kauai next year for about 10 days. We like a 3- or 4-star hotel, but also don't like the trouble and cost of a rental car.

Where could we stay that is near a town/village which is accessible by bus or walking? I like to go into town for shopping and museums, etc. rather than just lay on the beach all day.

Mahalo!

I know there's no where on earth that's perfectly safe, but how safe do you feel it would be for a middle aged lady to go without family or group to hang around with? I want to sit alone on a rock or a cliff and contemplate life for like 16 hours straight!
Live well and do good

My best friend and I are planning on taking a road-trip from Phoenix, AZ to Southern California. I have heard many horrible things about the way people drive in Southern California. Is it really as scary as people make it out to be? I am just concerned because we are both are really sucky, paranoid drivers.

A friend of mine recently told me that anyone driving out of New Jersey -- going anywhere else -- has to pay a toll (of something like $2.00 or more, depending on what road you are driving when you exit New Jersey.)

I live in Houston, TX and am familiar with toll roads (Beltway 8 for one); but, I had not heard of that about New Jersey... I asked my friend if anyone had to pay a toll to ENTER New Jersey and was told, "No, only those leaving that state."

Can somebody familiar with this confirm what my friend said as being true? Or, was that just a "tall tale"?
