There is a misconception that New Jersey is nothing but a toxic wasteland with a run-down gambling spot. In fact, there are many wonderful things about New Jersey. Cape May is a beautiful town and is the nation's oldest seashore resort.
Going to the Cranberry bogs for harvest in Southern Jersey is great.
Princeton University and Westminster Choir College are great assets.
Lenox China is based in Lawrenceville NJ and is one of the few domestic china manufacturers left in the US.
New Jersey as a whole has the second highest median household income among the states. (from Wikipedia)
Almost 1/2 of New Jersey is still wooded. Pretty good for a state that has been inhabited for over 300 years.
So yes, the USA needs New Jersey - a vibrant state with history, agriculture, and more.
(No, I do not live in nor have I ever lived in New Jersey.)

why wouldn't they?......what purpose would it serve to eliminate it as a state?...
and im from new jersey by the way....and i love it there.....so that question was kinda offensive.....
