North Dakota! Anyway, that's what my grandma, who was born there, always said. Her parents were from Minnesota and eventually moved to Montana after surviving a few North Dakota winters.

I haven't been in Minnesota yet, but I'd say for sure North Dakota is colder and harsher than western Montana, but central and eastern Montana isn't much different than North Dakota.

There is a humerously named town called Hell, Minn. Minnesota is the coldest in the US. (Yes, at times even colder than Alaska!)

i would think north dakota so close to canada......i've lived in minneapolis in1967 and it was really cold......but i'm told now there's less and less snow back there.....i'm in CA

They are all on the northern tier and they are very democratic about it. They take turns.
