Im thinking of moving to Houston, TX in a few months and wnated to know if its a good place to raise a family, and adopt children? Whats the job market like there?

Okay, here is the situation. Since my husband has left for Iraq, our son acts horrible when we are at home. I try to keep him busy but it only last for a few minutes and then he is back to being unhappy. I took him to the zoo yesterday and he LOVED it. I am going to try to do something like this every weekend to make the time pass by more quickly. I am trying to make a list of 52 things that we could do together. Some things would be small like bowling, putt-putt and others would be an all day thing like the zoo. I am trying to stick to things around Chattanooga and Atlanta but I would also like other things from all over Georgia, Tennesse, Alabama, and South Carolina. Any information on places you have been to or have heard about that would be good for a two and a half year old would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Holiday..... first New York for 5/6 nights, followed by Orlando or Los Angeles.... but which???
For 15 year old daughter and her father who both likes cities, theme parks, beaches and shopping. We can't decide between Orlando or LA, they want to see some big sights and famous attractions, whilst having fun in a safe environment???? At moment, I'm warming towards LA as there seems more to do and see, a bit different from JUST theme park and beaches.
Any thoughts???
Also what's LA like temperature wise at end of October?

I know that New jersey has the most shopping malls in one area in the world, with seven major shopping malls with in a 25 square mile radius. I am thinking of something in the Santa Monica area. Is this a safe place with lots of ammenities? How much would a 2 bedroom apartment be to rent per month?
